Very nice ski area. Nice, big lodge. Scott is a wonderful sales coordinator. Shawnee Peak house is large, spacious, but a little dated. NICE BIG fireplace!Overall WONDERFUL time!
Shawnee puts together a great product. We skied bell to bell again today (family of four). The kids love the lesson program. The conditions have been excellent and the Shawnee staff does a great job deciding which trails to groom and which to leave alone. The adult skiing was nice as was the family skiing. Everything is so cozy yet there are some long and complex runs for a "family mountain". We love Shawnee Peak!
My family and I have skied at Shawnee Peak three times now and have learned to like it more and more. Easy in and easy out, plenty of room in the lodge for all your gear and slope prep. Parking staff very friendly with parking very close by. Snowmaking is above average and when they say they have the most night skiing in New England I tend to believe them!! We've found enough challenging terrain to keep us interested and although it is early in the season, it appears that there could be some interesting glades and double black diamonds once the snow comes. Downsides are lower elevation so when the bigger mountains further away are getting snow Shawnee may be getting frozen rain. We were present for the Winter Festival prior to the new year and had a very good time. If you ever want to watch the fireworks and candlelight parade while you have dinner at Pub you better stake a claim early, like REAL early or you'll be forever walking around looking for a seat...first come first serve. Nice logo wear store and cafeteria food looks great (although I have not actually had anything other than hot chocolate. We look forward to spending more time at Shawnee for many years to come!
Not the biggest mountain but maybe the most kid-friendly mountain. We brought our 6 yr old and 3 yr old twins to ski and we had a blast. Signed the 3 yr old for 2 days of lessons and he was all over the Mt on day 2! While a lack of snow had some runs closed...the 4 days of skiing were great. We have season passes now and can't wait to return. The pub has great drinks and food, the common area is warm and the ski school very knowledgeable. Fun fun
I've contacted them 5 times to email me liability papers and not once has it been sent. Doesn't seem like they value their season pass holders.
The fact that there is night skiing and the ability to make lots of snow is great. There are a variety of trails for beginner to advanced. It isn't a tall mountain but it is very fun!
My husband, 5 kids and I travel to Bridgton every summer to visit family and it is a tradition to "climb the mountain." Great trails...some easy, some hard. You can check with the locals about the conditions of the trails. If you go at the right time, you can even find blueberries to pick. Just be careful of ground wasps because we saw some this past summer and they can be nasty!
One of the best features about Shawnee is that is has some terrain for most skiers - a newbie and a skill-developing slope, lots of intermediate terrain, and a couple more difficult slopes. The mountain is big enough to offer diversity, but not big enough for kids to get lost once you turn them loose or to get lonely, if your buddy is a better skier than you are! Everybody I've ever met here - be it staff or other skiers - is super friendly and glad to be of help. Lift prices are appropriate for what is offered, making it affordable to take the family. Although accomodations on-sight are quite limited, there are ample places to stay, for all budgets, nearby, as well as a number of good local eateries scarcely a stone's throw from the slopes, (should you choose to take a break from the lodge).
Amazing to see in the summer Always had seen in the winter its awesome greatly maintained Really made my day
We were looking for something fun and different to do with the kids for an overnight. We booked Tuckerman's cabin for a little adventure. With bags on our backs, we headed up the mountain a little after 7pm. I failed to get clarification as to the location of the cabin, so we just headed up the way we thought would be the easiest (which in hindsight was NOT). An hour later, tired and sweating we found the cabin. The cabin is tucked away in the woods and has great lake and mountain views. The next morning we finished the hike to the top and enjoyed the views. We also enjoyed the wild blueberries!!!
We have rented a house for 3 years in a row (New Years weekend) right near Shawnee Peak, and I can tell you that for 2-3 days of skiing, you won't be bored. Also, it's a great mountain for beginners, and for kids.Snow making is decent, and there is night skiing till 10PM, which is great - you really get your moneys' worth. Also, it wasn't very crowded, so we didn't have to wait in lines that long - a huge plus.
Amazingly beautiful summer winter fall Great skiing snow tubing great outdoor area for drink Close to Sunday River you could do one one day one the other day
My wife and I are not skiers but took the 2 hr trip from Concord, NH up to Shawnee Peak to try out the BigAirBag snowtubing and it didn't disappoint. It is quite an awesome feeling to slide down the hill and then suddenly find yourself flying in the air onto the stunt bag! Some cons of the area were that while we there the resort was rather crowded with a high school tournament and the mass of people couple with a lack of directional signage made the rental area a bit tough to find. It was also a little bit of a dangerous trek to the tubing area, as you actually walk past skiers finishing the terrain park and one of the other runs to get to it. Be sure to watch out for anyone not braking! Other than that, it's definitely a fun experience that is worth a shot.
HI, I do hope that this review gets published as it is very negative concerning customer service. The owner, CHET HOMER III, is the most DISRESPECTFUL PERSON REGARDING CUSTOMER SERVICE that i have ever met and I am 53 years old, a large business owner myself. His management staff is as DIRESPECTFUL. I COULD JUST NEVER JUSTIFY SPENDING ANOTHER PENNY AT SHAWNEE PEAK AFTER HAVING SPENT THOUSANDS on lift tickets, ski school, ski in / ski out lodging on the mountain and their affiliated ski shop, The Sporthaus during THREE different visits. I AM TRULY HOPING THAT YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE AS THERE ARE SO MANY SKI RESORTS THAT BELIEVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Shawnee is a perfect mountain if you're looking for the way it used to be. Quaint is often a misnomer for old, whereas this ski area is small, quiet, well run and ideal for families and quite honestly, anyone looking to carve in a few runs. The lift system is nice, the trails are well groomed, and the safety features seem appropriate.Mainly, the folks running the place are very nice.I'd go again!
