Views of the boat moored in the harbor. Watching the fishermen unload the days catch. Some local restaurants to satisfy the food needs. Picturesque. Can travel onto Wood Island Lighthouse next.

Been to this lighthouse many times and at certain times it is even open to the public to climb up to the top! Sign your name in the guestbook - you can easily kayak to it also which we do a lot and then you can walk around the rocks and enjoy the crashing waves on the open ocean side. They recently added new additions to it too so definitely worth a visit. You can view the lighthouse from a distance at the end of Cape Porpoise Lobster Pier!

The Goat Island Light is an attractive early 19th century brick built lighthouse located off Cape Porpoise, north of Kennebunkport. Originally built as a manned lighthouse guarding the Harbor entrance, the light on the tower is still active, now being fully automated with a 14 mile range lens. Only accessible to the public by boat or at low tide by special arrangement, the light is easily seen from the shoreline waterfront in Cape Porpoise Harbor. Both the keeper's house and the tower are looked after by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.

Only accessible by boat but viewing area at Cape Porpoise waterfront is beautiful.............from active harbor area to breakers to rocky lighthouse area right across from casual seafood restaurants/bar.

This is another lighthouse near where I live. I've been here quite a few times, and have enjoyed every trip to take pictures of the lighthouse.

Goat Island Lighthouse is a beautiful lighthouse off the coast of Cape Porpoise (part of Kennebunkport). Dropping a canoe or kayak in the water at the pier is easiest way to get there. Well worth the paddle.

This adorable little lighthouse is close to my home.I never get sick of seeing it.People care and are trying to preserve it and its integrity.May its light shine on forever!!!!

While eating lobster at the Chowder House, we were able to see Goat Island Lighthouse across the bay. When it got darker our, the light came on and flashed appox. 8-10 seconds. Very pretty!

All of last years work is done. The reconstructed bell tower and the walk way from the light keepers house to the light house are done. I am lucky to have friends who live on the Cape and have a boat to make the trip to the Island. You have to watch the tides and only go at high tide.

Take a canoe, boat or kayak out.Too far to see from the pier.Small light that isn't impressive.

Can only be seen from a distance so one does not see much.

We were traveling through Maine and the Northeast and spent a weekend with Scott and Karen, the lighthouse Keepers on Goat Island. We were only here for 2 full days, but in that short time, we experienced almost every type of weather imaginable. From pouring rain and lightning on our night of arrival, to thick fog in the mornings. We had beautiful blue skies during the day, big fluffy clouds roll through and a picture perfect sunset to end the evening. As two traveling photographers, this was more than one could dream of. To be at a place for only two days and have so many different weather patterns that your photos look like you spent a week there.Scott took us by boat to one of the fish houses in Cape Porpoise Harbor where we got fresh lobster for lunch and dinner. We had a traditional Maine Lobster Boil on the island where my wife tried Maine Lobster for the first time and fell in love. That night, full with fresh caught food we watched the stars from the balcony of the lighthouse and listened to the waves crash the rocky shoreline. We woke to the fog horn and another beautiful day. I could imagine the life of a Lighthouse Keeper with visitors coming by daily by boat, fisherman dropping off their fresh catch and watching the sea change with each passing tide. Thanks Scott & Karen for showing us a piece of your life that you live day to day, but we absolutely love!

We were staying across from the lighthouse in these twin mansions built by a shipping captain. We decided to walk across the estuary to the lighthouse when the tide was out. We had so much slipppery, muddy fun! The lighthouse was beautiful but the best part was being within crawling distance from the pub.
