coastal routes in northeast

The scenic drive up with coastal is breathtaking. So many towns, each with their own uniqueness. Very good picture taking.

Just love, love, love coastal Maine. So many quaint and charming little towns to choose from. You can't go wrong.

Travelling the coastal routes of Maine is a joy. Every few minutes there is another treat for the eyes and lots of places to stop and look around the little towns and beauty spots.

The drive along the Maine coast is worth the time and effort regardless of your destination. While it can surly be tedious during high summer season, it is a perfect part of fall. As you wind through, each town offers its unique twist to the ride. As we drove from Ogunquit to Kennebunkport we treated to just that. The trees were just beginning to change and the pockets of color signaled what lay ahead. The ride is punctuated with views of the ocean, inlets, homes and town centers. The ride is an additional treat between destination.

Every cove, sea view, beach, lighthouse, historic waterfront imaginable right there for you to discover, take time to smell the sea, wonder at the beauty of the wild roses, the flora and fauna are amazing! Sea glass! Boat tours, sailboat rides, lobster roll stands! Best vacation ever!

Took a tour guided bus trip up the NE coast of the New England States. Many small coastal towns and a Nubble Lighthouse stop. Make sure you have a camera for all the beautiful sights. The Bush Presidential summer complex was breathtaking. Not permitted on property but view from the bus was unobstructed.

Was very disappointed once we got there. We expected it to be a little more fixed up and less tacky stores. Not worth the drive if your exploring shores.

Lots of traffic in Ogunquit and York Beach. Some nice homes along the way, but not worth the traffic.

Loved seeing all the summer homes along the coast and visiting the numerous lighthouses along the way. If you like to photograph interesting places with a diversity of textures, coastal Maine is the place to go.

The coast line of Maine is drop dead gorgeous! But the traffic on summer days is awful. It seemed as if every little town had a red light to keep us there. We prefer to interstate to get to where we are going...THEN we enjoy the coastline

Bring your camera and be prepared to stop and use it. Drive all the way up to Bar Harbor and stop in the wonderful towns along the way to antique, take pics, eat and shop. Stop at the hometown for LL Bean in Freeport, Maine. The entire town is devoted to big name stores at discounts. Bar Harbor is a wonderful town with lots of energy and great places to eat. Unfortunately the government was shut down when we were there so we missed most of Acadia National Park.

Fortunately we had fantastic weather so that all our journeys on this trip were blessed with sunny skies, only one rainy afternoon. The scenery is wonderful and the colors of the trees never to be forgotten. We definitely have to come back, maybe next year.
