Miles of trails and views galore. Along the shore or in the woods miles of protected land. Most trails are relatively easy.

We LOVE, LOve, love the BRLT trails. We visit often with our big dog and walk the trails in the area at least once a day. Always a lovely experience. Thank you for all your hard work keeping these trails accessible and enjoyable.

We tried a hiking trail on our own and it seemed to run out and was so clogged with roots, we had to give up. Probably best to find a map and get some better guidance before attempting a hike. Pretty area though and a nice old cemetery to explore close to the trailhead where we were.

Having arrived earlier in thee day up the coast from Massachusetts, the Maine coastline was just lovely with a plethora of lovely coastal villages. Unless you are on an abandoned trip, it is not possible to all all the unique features - although Kennabunkport was very special. The Boothbay region is Cornwall coastal villages with avengance, serious rocky coastal scenery and absolutely gorgeous! The trust portrays the area superbly and invites you to want to wander more!

We stopped in to the office and spoke to one of the employees even though it was pre-office hours. He was great and gave us maps and suggestions on the best places to hike for our interests. The trails were well marked and there are enough choices for every level of hiker. Can't wait to return!!!

We checked out their website before we arrived in Boothbay Harbor and were able to download maps of walks we were interested in. They did not disappoint.....stunning views. The have many properties in the area with trails of varying levels.

We were fighting the upcoming sunset and were frustrated by the lack of signage to this trail, an omission we find prevalent in Maine. But when we did arrive it was a nice easy walk on the accessible trail through woods, meadows and over a bridge. One other suggestion is to have a returnable trail map available at the trailhead. Not all visitors have access to a printer to print their own.

The BBRLT is one of the reasons we bought a summer home here. They do a great job preserving varied parcels of land on the peninsula. Read the trail descriptions before choosing--they are quite different in difficulty and physical agility needed. All we have tried have been beautiful. Some require more mosquito repellant than others...Thank you, BBRLT, for your foresight! Love their preserves!

The wonderful scenic hikes maintained by the BRLT are the highlight of our annual vacation to Maine. We rent a cottage near the Gregory Preserve and walk there nearly every morning with our dog. A nice easy warm up hike for the first thing in the morning with lovely vistas across the river to the Botanical Gardens. We also love the Porter Preserve (amazing vistas of the Shepscot) and Oven's Mouth (more of a challenge, lovely views). Colby does not seem as well maintained as the other trails and is a very short hike. We prefer the Dodge Point Preserve (maintained by the DRA) for vistas of the Damariscotta. We appreciate the efforts made by the BRLT to make the preserves "dog friendly."

The Boothbay community has done a service to visitors by ensuring there are places you can go to see the beauty of Maine. The trails are accessible for most people, mostly easy, well-marked so you can't get lost, can be short or long (there are marked shortcuts if you prefer a shorter walk), and provide a variety of experiences (along the shore and through the woodlands). All great for a woman traveling alone. It is essential that we make use of these trails.

The Boothbay Region Land trust has done a wonderful job of preserving portions of the Boothbay area for walks. Many of the tracts the Trust owns have been donated the land owners who want to ensure that the places they love are preserved. I have not counted the total number of walks available but there a wide variety of different tracts and walks so everyone will easily found several that they will enjoy. Pick your tract; pick your walks (note the use of the plural "walks"), and enjoy yourself.

Visited quite a few of the BRLT's locations with our dog. They do a great job of providing beautiful places to visit and explore.

It was not a good day for wildlife sightings. We only saw ducks, cormorants and seagulls - oh well. We went a few days after a good rainfall and were treated to mushrooms of all sizes and colors along the trails. The woods were very quiet and the view over the water very peaceful. Pay attention to the directions to get to the parking lot. It is a spot we will visit again.
