After this site fell into disrepair, a committed group of area residents decided to restore it to its former beauty. The original bottling plant serves as a museum for Poland Springs Water, and the "Source" has been restored to its original Italianate beauty. I could almost feel the turn of the 20th century there. Catherine, the young curator/guide, was well informed and shared with us all that she knew. After leaving the buildings, we walked around the grouds and visited All Soul's Chapel, also kept well and worth the visit, especially since there was no charge at all!
If you like history, it is refreshing to visit the original Poland Spring. We were guided through by staffer Catherine who has also designed many of the tour brochures (she is a design school grad)
We joked about going to the "water museum" while staying at Poland Spring Resort, but it ended up being great! Love the history.
This well maintained park has a great place to visit. The sights here provide a great deal of history behind Poland Spring and where the famous water was first found.
wildlife seeker, first time we saw a moose in a park not out in the wild. Also have different wildlife which was very interesting to see up close.A must see.
Beautiful spot for an afternoon walk. Amazing history - spectacular architecture and buildings. I live close by, and never realized what a gem was so close.
A very nice historical place. It was very interesting to listen to the famous stories (my girlfriend says). I knew nothing about Poland before. But this place is really interesting and green. Poland Spring Bottling Company are very exalting gays coz they original taste of water and keep traditions. Interesting stories, good landscapes.
Trails were well maintained but not very long. Gardens were nice but nothing special. Grounds were well maintained. We were not interested in golf.
Very interesting to learn the history of Poland Spring Water! It was well done. The restored buildings take you back to another era----convenient parking.
The Preservation Park gives a photo history as well as a preserved view of the landmark Poland Spring Bottling Company including the original source. The level of sanitation was amazing for its time.
A little bit off the beaten path but worth a visit if you are passing through Poland. A good spot for golfers.
Beautiful trails on the grounds of Poland Springs Resort. My Dad & I did some geocaching in the Park.
Free for guests of Poland Springs otherwise a $3 charge for the tour. History of the building and Columbian Worlds Fair, Poland Springs Hotel and the Springs. Chapel across the way features concerts on Mondays in July & August.
All Souls Chapel, The Maine State Building and The Poland Spring Water Museum (and original source) are all very well maintained and offer a great slice of Northern New England history.
Enjoyed the old pictures depicting life during that era,.
