My husband and I had visited this local vineyard a couple of years ago to sample its wines (which were good). Since it is in our own hometown and we tend to take excursions across our borders, we didn't return until this past weekend. We met four friends there for a tasting and picnic lunch. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Since its beginnings, Nickel Creek has added to its wine selections and has added to its outside seating. You can taste 8 different wines and then sit outside at one of the picnic tables or under the pergola to enjoy your picnic lunch and beverages. Although I prefer white wines, my favorite for this day was the Foster Red. I also enjoyed the peach even though I am not a fruity wine fan. As I said the wines are good and the location is peaceful. The young couple who own the vineyard are personable and enjoy serving you. So if you are looking for a short road trip in Lil' Rhody, try driving out to Foster to visit Nickel Creek.
We had a hellish drive from the mid Atlantic region to RI this past weekend. My sister who lives nearby recommended we stop here to unwind before continuing on to her house. What a peaceful and lovely small family owned vineyard. We arrived about 4 PM on a Friday and were immediately welcomed. We chose the two free tastings as we wanted to go outdoors and just relax under their pergola with a full glass of wine. They also sell Rhode Island made cheeses and crackers which we purchased. My husband loved the Foster White and I chose the Riesling, which is not your typical sweet white.
Nickel Creek, a family owned and operated vineyard was a delightful find off the beaten path In Foster. Upon our arrival, Bodie and "Z", the "greeting committee" were ready and waiting for visitors to share their licks and wags with. Of course, I obliged! :-). We sampled about 6 wines and bought 3 bottles. Our favs were the Foster Red and Summer Blueberry!
We stopped at Nickle Creek Vineyard on our drive to Providence for the weekend. You received two complimentary tastings or, for $8, you could taste six wines of your choice from their tasting menu. The Riesling was very good, especially for non-white wine lovers. We purchased a bottle of the Riesling and one of the raspberry wine, again not usually one of our favorites but we were very impressed. Good choice!
