Animals are dead. Little cute baby bears are stuffed.. it stinks a wierd old people death smell and it's small place ... don't really think it's worth the money. I think the zoo is much better
This was a spur of the moment decision . The exhibits were showing their age. It was advertised there was over 1500 exhibits probably 1450 were bugs and butterflies. It was like stepping back to 1975. The poor lady working was bored out of her mind.as we were leaving she said you all were my only customers today. If they would update a little more the place wouldn't be that bad
My family and I visited the Wildlife museum during Dollar Days for locals last year. Interesting exhibits and much bigger than it seems. Our daughters enjoyed looking at all the different animals and walking through the tunnel like hallways.
Someone put a lot of time and effort into this museum. You can tell some of the animals are old, but a lot of thought and heart went into the exhibits. The museum is very clean and informative.
Exhibits are old and out of date (most current date we found was 1988 ) animal colors are faded and the snake skins are splitting. Good idea but it would be nice if part of the over priced admission went for exhibit up keep
We loved this museum. Very clean and well maintained. Kind of dated but that's what made it cool. We spent the afternoon up close to the animals. We would go back again if we were in Cave City.
Great experience. It is so much bigger than it looks. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer museums, but the wild life is amazing! My daughter is 9 and kept saying "this is so cool"
We went here not really knowing what to expect, but came away very impressed. They have a lot of animals in great displays with lots of information posted. The animals are in great shape and they ave done a very good job displaying them in their natural habitat. "The museum has nearly 14,000 square feet of exhibit area containing rare and exotic animals such as tigers, lions, bears, leopards (including the Snow Leopard - one of the rarest cats in the world), deer, sheep, ox, and many more. The museum doesn't stop at just animals we also have a vast selection of aquatic life, insects, birds, and more." Our 3 1/2 year old grandson loved it as well as my wife and I. There is so much to see I wouldn't mind going there on every Cave Trip we make.
I can remember coming here in the late '70s/early '80s; fast forward 30+ years, took my 8 year old, he LOVED it. Cave City has become our default long weekend for fall break, and Kentucky Wildlife Museum has been a required stop for the past few years. Some of the information cards are made from DYMO labels, or typed, or handwritten, but it is part of the charm - I can take my kids and see them enjoy the exact same things I did as a child. You will be disappointed if you are expecting 3D animatronic interactive displays, and adults or older kids might get bored, but toddlers to early teens will be entranced.Note that some of the reviews are for Kentucky Down Under (also a pretty good place), not the Wildlife Museum.
A small but pretty cave near Mammoth Cave National Park, but privately owned. Guided lantern tour takes less than an hour and shows you one of everything any cave has. Then they have an Australian zoo: Pat a kangaroo, feed lorikeets, see what a frogmouth bird looks like, sing with a kookaburra. The staff is cheerful, will hold a tour for late arrivals, and don't rush you out the gate at 5:01pm. Doesn't have the majesty of Mammoth Cave's 400 miles of passages, but doesn't need it.
I wasn't sure about this place but honestly it was great. My family enjoyed it. There's plenty to look at and everything is in great condition. It had an oldy but goody feel to it.
We visited this museum and the entire family loved it. Even our nine month old had a blast looking at all of the bugs and animals. This museum is a little off the beaten path but a great way to spend a couple of hours.
The weather wasn't good so we opted for an indoor place to visit. what a pleasant surprise. The displays were well done and it was much larger than we expected. I would definitely go there again.
If you don't like animals, or are a vegetarian, this is not the place for you.For everyone else - go!! It's so much cooler than you expect. It's cheap (even cheaper if you pick up a small coupon book for the area) and doesn't take a lot of time, but what is there is fascinating.Really enjoyed it, great for kids and adults alike.
Nice place to visit. All the exhibits were in great shape. Great little place to go if you need to kill an hour or two
