Thank you for sharing your memories with us, happy to hear you and the grandchildren had a fun time. The snow was a new addition this year and everyone love it!
We are so happy that your family had a great time. The Dinosaur Train was one of our most popular events, we hope to be able to bring the event back in the near future. Thank you for your comments.
We are sorry that you did not have a good experience on your North Pole Express ride. We did have an issue with the music in your car and it was not discovered until right before departure, the repair could not be made without delaying the train ride. Each car is cleaned before each ride so I apologize if you felt like your car was dirty. Yes, our North Pole is a home and large yard with beautiful lights and animated displays. The Kentucky Railway Museum's Christmas rides are geared toward children and if the kids are having a good time then we are happy. I am sorry that you felt like your kids did not enjoy it.
We apologize you did not have a good experience on your train excursion. We did have a mechanical issue with our music not playing in your car. It was not discovered until right before the train left the station and we were unable to make the repair in time without delaying the train's departure. I am glad that your car was creative and made their own music. The cookies are purchased from a local bakery. We travel to a house just outside of town that is decorated as the North Pole. It is decorated much more than the average house, the kids love it! The Kentucky Railway Museum runs Christmas trains for the entertainment of the children, if they are happy we are happy! Thank you for your comments.
We are sorry you were not happy with your Santa Express trip. I will agree with you the windows are in need of replacement, they are not dirty, the seals have broken and we are unable to clean them. As resources become available it is our hope to replace all windows in that car. Yes the hot chocolate was Swiss Miss, which is name brand hot chocolate and the cookies were purchased from a local bakery. We serve over 5,000 people during the month of December and we do not have the resources to make home made hot chocolate. Our Santa does come into each car and sits down and has all the children line up to see him. In a train car there really is no other way to do it.
Based on your review you were on the evening ride, the North Pole Express. The lights are turned off for a short period of time in order to better see the beautiful North Pole. The characters do not acknowledge each child because their are close to 300 people on the train and the ride is only 1.5 hours long; they would have stopped for a photo if you had asked. After Santa is picked up at the North Pole he climbs aboard the train and travels from car to car and invites all the children to join him back at the train station for a visit and a photo. The description of the North Pole Express is on our web site. The model trains are fully functioning and it is possible their could have been a derailment, had you asked someone in the office they would have been happy to place them back on the track, unfortunately with model trains derailments do happen. Sorry you were dissatisfied with the experience.
Based on your review you were on The Santa Express which ran at 2pm. We had a designated volunteer from KRM who was stationed on the train platform directing people to their cars, I apologize if you did not see him. Many of our passengers love the elf that interacted with the children. Mrs. Clause was on the train and she was also available after the train ride for photos. Parents are encouraged to take their own pictures on the train with Santa and most of them do. The photo backdrop you saw in the museum is for our North Pole Express evening ride. Santa is picked up at the North Pole and then walks from car to car and invites all the children to come back to the train station for a visit and pictures. The ride you were on Santa is on the train the entire time and has time to visit with the children, the evening train ride is a totally different experience,, the descriptions of each of these trips are on our web site. We have had many wonderful comments about our Holiday trains and we are sorry that you were dissatisfied.
Thank you for your comments. We are proud to be the only railroad in the state to host A Day Out With Thomas. It is a fun day for the entire family; this event will return to the Kentucky Railway Museum the first two weekends in June 2015.
Thank you for your visit, so glad you had a good time.
Thank you for your visit. We thank you for your comments.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. Our mystery theater events are one of our most popular. We thank you for visiting and so happy we could help you build family memories.
So glad you enjoyed the ride, the view from those bridges are awesome. Hope to see you in the fall.
Thank you for your positive comments. We strive very hard to make this a place that people will want to visit again and again.
Thank you for visiting the Kentucky Railway Museum. Yes, we did receive significant flood damage from high water received in May 2010. We are still awaiting funds from Fema so that we may build a new building. The engine 309 from which you were riding behind is awaiting a new paint job and we hope to have that finished before our 2015 season begins. The Kentucky Railway Museum is a 501c3 non profit organization and is much of our restoration work is done in house by a small group of volunteers. We appreciate your comments and hope to see you again.
You are correct we did suffer significant damage from a flood which occurred in May of 2010 as of this review we are still awaiting funds from Fema so that we may construct a new building. The runaround in Boston is routine unless we are doing a pull pull with two engines. Your comment about the air conditioning may be true, when it is extremely hot our old equipment does struggle, We are very fortunate that we have climate controlled coaches and not all open window cars like so many railroads do, Thank you for your comments.
