The bell is kind of cool., how it was made, etc but it is in a little tower. Disappointing from the original publicly announced plans. The firefighter staues by it are really neat. It is a nice place for an outdoor celebration like July 4 so you can hear up lose the bell ring.
I used to live here and would walk by it everyday to work. Years went by before I ever actually realized it was a monument. There are to signs to it, its pretty much just a bell between a parking lot and a white castle. If you go, make sure its not night, lots of bars and drunks.
Very nice but has no signage explaining the meaning of the bell - have some 9/11 memorials there as well.
This was built for the year 2000 celebrations. It is the 3rd largest bell in the world. They ring it on occasion, it's pretty impressive.
The title of this review is complete; nothing much else can be said about it. Perhaps if I'd seen/heard the bell ring then I might have been more impressed.
It is just worth quickly stopping and seeing. All it is is a large bell. So don't expect much. But it is just a nice quick little stop.
Today the kids and I had a scavenger hunt in Newport, KY. First stop, the world peace bell in Newport. First we viewed tit from the road and read the statement below, then we went inside. You can gather some paperwork and take the elevator upstairs to the viewing platform. This is where I was blown away! The gentleman that greeted us downstairs came up and asked if the kids wants to be designated bell ringers! Of course! I'm not sure if this is something they offer to everyone but it really made 3 kids and two parents very happy! Thanks for the information and the chance to ring the bell!
Information lacking. There are interesting elements to this display like the first time it was rung there was a blowout of windows--interesting but not there. If it rang at certain times it might lend more interest.
It's not really much of a display. There was a lot of litter around, very sad signage... I was embarrassed.
This was just a bell on dislpay in temporary housing in a parking lot. It doesn't ring all the time, only on special occasions. Nothing more.
Not worth walking more than a half block to see. Ugly, sterile, housing for the bell.
We saw the World Peace Bell from our Duck tour and it was interesting to see, but that's really all you can do. Our tour guide gave us a little background, but that was about all there was to it. The upside is it is free to see.
It's a big bell in Newport. It's good to visit and read the history behind it.
It's a nice landmark that was put in for the millenium year so it's about 13 years old now. I've never actually gotten out to look at it but you can do so with some nice touristy shops nearby and it's very close to Newport on the Levy, a major entertainment/restraunt area in the Northern Kentucky area. Not a "must see" but it is a bell based upon the Philadelphia Liberty Bell.
This is a big bell in the middle of a parking lot. Don't waste your time.
