kentucky horse tours- day tours

Our very first trip to Kentucky had to include a tour of the beautiful horse country. We booked a tour with Mary Anne Squires at Kentucky Horse Tours P.O. Mary Anne personalized the tour for us by finding out before the tour (while we were still in CA) just what we wanted, expected and even what we knew about horses (which was not that much). We started off at Keeneland racecourse and went behind the scenes to learn all sorts of things about horses, their training, breeding, you name it, we were shown more than we could have envisioned. We visited several horse farms, met some famous horses, even learning some of their quirky habits and paid our respects at Seattle Slews gravesite. We attended the Yearling sales to see how that worked. All I can say is that we are back home in CA and are still talking about the fabulous tour we had with Mary Anne Squires of Kentucky Horse Tours. She should be voted best horse tour operator !

I have been on this tour several times and I'm never disappointed. You learn about famous horses, their offspring and where some are buried.

The park's out door grounds are magnificent- beautiful tree lined lanes with horse sculptures and flowers. The statue of Man O' War is imposing. As you look at, you can almost feel the strength of what was a superb animal.We visited the kid's barn which is interactive, the horse museum filled with information and visuals tracing the history of the horse from prehistoric times to today. We took the horse drawn trolley ride and watched the horses of the world show. It was a fun few hours! Go with your kids and go even if you don't have any.

If you come to this area of the country you must take in as much thoroughbred horse knowledge as you can. It is really a great experience to see the great race horses of today and the past out in the stables and paddocks. Majestic champions that you can touch! All horses are represented not just thoroughbreds. Go in the Spring and Summer to get a true appreciation.
