This is not a review of the music venue itself, but the ghost hunt after the bar closes. My wife and I decided to do a two-hour private ghost tour of Bobby Mackey's Music World offered by Gatekeeper Paranormal. We had seen it featured on the Travel Channel and SyFy Channel as a haunted music venue, and decided to judge for ourselves. Gatekeeper Paranormal offers two hour and five hour ghost hunts after the bar is closed, we did the two hour version. Our tour guide was informative, personable, and gave us the local legends compared to researched facts. Some of the legends couldn't be substantiated, while others could. Namely, the murder of a young woman two miles away that was linked to the establishment when it was a casino in the early 20th century. We got to see all three floors of the bar and had the whole place to ourself. While we didn't see any ghosts, we certainly enjoyed the history. While I wouldn't recommend it during the day (we were warned that it was a dive bar), its a spooky place to investigate at night. We were also warned to tell the spirits that were there that they weren't allowed to come home with us... apparently its happened before.

My husband, adult daughter and I went to Bobby Mackey's to "ghost hunt" the most haunted bar in America. The half hour tour was informative and the guide did not try to embellish stories. (We did actually catch a large orb taken without a flash on a night setting on the camera.) But after the tour we stayed for a long time listening to the country rock band which was excellent! Bobby Mackey performed and was very good. The vibe in the bar is high energy and fun. I am not really a country music fan but loved it. The patrons ranged from 21 and up who were totally enjoying the ambiance of the bar. My daughter rode the mechanical bull; why not when you have the chance? The bull operator did not try to throw her off, which was appreciated. All in all, this a country good time bar that everyone should experience at least once. It was one of the highlights of our vacation.

My friend and I stopped at Bobby Mackey's Music World on our way to waverly hills sanaterium. It was a very nice bar, the prices's were ok, service was good, and the music was great. Mr Mackey played a set and was great. we rode the bull and had a good time. then we went on there ghost hunt, this was disapointing, not even worth the $5.00 it cost. the tour under the bar and the gateway to hell as they called it was a dirt hole filled with cement. 20 people in the group with the bar still open was horrorable.stop to say you've been there but save the money of the ghost hunt.

Had a great time listing to the wonderful music. The staff is so friendly and kind. Bobby Mackey takes the stage at 10 p.m every Friday & Sat. Night. They are only open those 2 nights a week. They give ghost tours every hour down to the basement If you dare! On the tour you learn a lot of history about the club. They always have a great band on before Bobby. Come on down and visit.

We have been going to Bobby Mackey's for many years and it is one of the best New Years Eve parties in the greater Cincinnati area and it was free to get in for everyone 21 and over. There is usually a cover charge to get in.

We got there when the bar opened at 7:30 because we wanted to take the tour before we got annoying drunk people in our group. The first tour didn't start until 9:15 so we had a drink and found out more about the place from one of the bartenders and her boyfriend who were very sweet and welcoming. We did learn quickly however that they do not accept anything but cash so be sure you bring some with you although they do have an ATM. The pictures on their website look worse than the bar is itself. We prepared for the worst but it wasn't nearly as bad as we expected! Everyone was so nice and the place was clean. We went on the 9:15 tour with Denise who is awesome!! She was very informative and let us take our time and take pics. We may or may not have captured anything in our pics but either way it was definitely fun! It sucked not being able to start a tab because every drink you buy you tip on so you can't really do just one nice tip at the end of your night. Bottom line it was fun and we will go back again to take the 2 hour tour but maybe not make a night of it as it tends to get kind of expensive. Also there is a $6 cover and the 30 min tours are $10/person.

I went there to do a quick look over to see if was worth a paranormal investigation. we did a 30 min tour with a full spectrum and a digital recorder . My wife can sense spirits in a haunted establishment. We went down to the basement after payimng a cover charge and a fee for the tour of the basement. We heard all the tours of the people provoking the spirits , and basically daring them to do something , ever seen the movies when people do this it never ends well , you never have a spirit say I am so sorry I was away , anyway it is what it is the people are incredible , the mechanical bull etc all are great bobby makes u feel like hes ur best friend and hes known u forever , all the staff treated me like gold , having said that if u are looking for a wonderful country bar with line dancing awesome drinks and some shall we say women who will hit on ur wife and u alike , granted they were drunk, then this is ur place for a haunted place ehh the jurys out I saw or experienced nothing , Im sure some have but for a 5 hr ghost hunt its over 500 bucks really just dont see that price for that short amount of time , you ghost bucks can be better spent at mansfield prison north ohio or places like that , not saying it isnt haunted just dont think its worth a full investigation they are def making money at bibby mackys world , no wonder hes smilling all the time

Just wrapped up a 5 hour private ghost hunt here. Wanda was an excellent guide and really was a pleasure to talk to. Yes, the place is run down and dirty but knowing that going in made it easy to look past it and see all the history. We had some interesting experiences while there but nothing over the top like claims of being scratched or attacked. I am happy I had the experience of investigating here but I think once will be enough for me. The cost was about $52 per person for our group of 7 so make sure to bring a lot of friends to keep the cost down.

We enjoyed a few hours at Bobby Mackey's. It was exciting and very fun, good music by Bobby himself. It was neat to finally see this establishment in person after seeing it on Ghost Hunters! Love it! and the staff is amazing, basement tour was fun also!

Had a great time and the basement tour was okay, except they should have had the lights off!!! The staff was friendly, and the music was good.

Bobby Mackey's Music World is a great place for an investigation. The "Ghost Adventures" crew has given it quite a reputation. Rest assured, however, there are no demonic entities roaming the basement "well" area. Are there ghosts? Yes there are. The best place to find them? The men's room. Why? I have no idea ... but that's a hangout. Please mention my name to Wanda Kay if you go on a tour. She's a sweetheart.

My mom and I did a 2 hour ghost tour with Wanda Kay and it was a great experience. We were the only 3 people in the building and Wanda was so friendly and informative. It was $35/person and worth it given that we had our own private tour of the place. We were able to bring our own equipment (although she has equipment you can use too) and take as many pictures and recordings we wanted. The history of the place is amazing and I really appreciated that Wanda has done her own research to validate the information and claims. It was an amazing time and I would highly recommend this!! If we visit again we will definitely do the 5 hour investigation with Wanda.

So, we went strictly for the paranormal experience and we are not country music lovers...On arrival to the place it is a building that looks ready to fall.  I can't believe it is safe to have all those people packed in there stomping and banging around on the dance floors.  It is a non-descript building with multiple additions and a sign on each side with the name on it.  The parking lot is on either side of the building and is patchy with gravel, paved, and disintegrating portions of both.  Make sure you are in the pickup or you will bottom out a few times. The police were there with EMS with a crowd around a "local" who had too much to drink.  When we went in the girls at the register acres like the police and ambulance out front were common and the "oh, that's just so and so..."At the front register we were met with 2 girls with attitudes.  But looking at the crowd they needed them to survive the nights here.  They' have a printed hand print where you are required to put your hand so they can stamp the back with bar name after you pay the cover charge.  On entering the place it is packed solid and you can't see much though the smoke.  We were directed to a little corner with the gift shop counter and met up with the tour guide, paid our additional $10 for the basement tour.We went around back and outside to the basement entrance and on entering you really want to know how the building is still standing.  The walls are crumbling brick and concrete block.  This is where they shoot the beer bottles down shoots and into 55 gallon drums all night.  There are about 8-10 drums full already. There is "the wall of faces" which is water seeping through the decaying concrete in different formations, The dressing rooms of former performers with a red light on to add mystery with dying rose in a vase.  "Hells Gate" is a hole in the floor that is falling in.  It is supposed to be in the slaughter house room where they hung and bled the cows.  It is said to empty into the river but is now capped to keep the river from flooding the basement.  I took lots of pictures.  I paid $15 to be able to and I was going to get my $ worth. After the tour we went back to grab a souvenir t-shirt and the woman that runs the ghost tours was there counting money and ignoring us with our credit card out and discussing which shirt we wanted...  She never made eye contact and she shut off the light and walked away.  When we asked about a shirt she said the money's been counted and it is too late.  She kept walking...So, if you are up for wasting some time, some money, like smelling like an ash tray, and seeing the decay of an old honey-tonk this place is for you!My advice is drive by, take a picture to say you were there.  If you want a t-shirt order one online and be ready to wash it a few times to get the cigarette smoke out of it!
