We've done a number of hikes in the area and this is our favorite. Nice trail, doable by kids. You can hike a little or all the way up to nineteen miles. We saw lots of wild flowers in mid July, and it was just a beautiful hike with plenty of shade.

Even when the parking lot is full, the trail isn't crowded. I love walking this trail, adjacent to a crisp, gorgeous mountain stream, joined by my family and doggie. We keep going back because it's never disappointed us.

This is one of our favorite trails. It is not far south of town, has a paved road to the trailhead and a nice parking lot. The trail is well maintained and is adjacent to a great mountain stream. You cross a bridge at the beginning of the trail and walk next to the stream for much of the hike. The trail opens up a little along the way for great views. We went when runoff was high, so the stream was really roiling. We had to cross a few little streams, but nothing too difficult. This is a great area for day hiking.

We decided to spend the day hiking to experience the "Real Montana". So glad we did!! The trails were easy to navigate and very scenic. We were told to purchase bear spray, which we did at a hardware store in Red Lodge. An absolute must trail!

Nice day hike or weekend backpacking adventure. Fishing, clean water, God & country. When friend Cristi from Romania visited, we thought of Lake Fork. And stream fishing's fun there.

This is one of my favorite trails in the Red Lodge area. It is easy to get to the trailhead as it is paved highway to the turn off and continues to be paved to the parking area. There is an outhouse at the trail head. I enjoy this trail as it follows the creek, and although it has some hills, they are not continuous. I have only gotten to the area called Broadwater, which is a nice place to stop and have lunch. It is a frequently hiked trail, so bears are too often seen, but bear spray is recommended.

About five miles above alpine Red Lodge, MT, on paved road all the way to the trail head, this is beautiful day hike as well as great for backpacking. At about 7000 feet, the scenery, clear water and fishing will not disappoint. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g45325-d3242909-Reviews-Lake_Fork_Trail-Red_Lodge_Montana.html

For a beginner, this trail had a gradual incline and wonderful scenery. Waterside hike throughout the entire trail. Carry bear spray as a precaution!
