Small park with trails for any age or ability. Nice visitor center. Child friendly with many programs for children; educational as well. Commanding view of the Flathead River and Kalispell from the overlook.
Family-friendly, easy hikes or walks. Wonderful views of Flathead Valley and distant mountains. Visitor Center is very interesting, clean, and friendly.
This is a nice park, you get a wonderful view, picnick tables and nice trails to hike on. kind of out of the way put well worth the trip
my husband and I visit this park a lot, and love to go when they are offering a informative get together. We really enjoyed the First Day of the year hike in January. Amy had a great turnout at least 20 of us.
Just 5 miles outside of Kalispell, this park provides some nice walking paths, a decent forest hike, and a great view of the Flathead Valley. I always bring visitors up to Lone Pine to get the lay of the land and a view of Glacier National Park (in the distance).
Lone Pine State Park will always be close to my heart. The first outing with my husband was a hike up the cliffs of the park. My first Mother's Day was celebrated with a 3 generation family hike to the top. I miss the days before the Hwy 93 bypass, as the road noise does reach the East side of Lone Pine and definitely deters from the grandeur of that side's sweeping views. Despite this disappointment, the park is still a wonderful escape from the daily grind. Proposals, weddings, family reunions... they can all be found at Lone Pine in the summer; a testament to it's allure, serenity, and beauty. I would recommend the park to anyone wanting to be immersed in Montana nature without venturing too far away from creature comforts. You can see a myriad of birds, including hawks and eagles, along with deer, squirrel, and on rare occasion, even a black bear!
This State Park is a little difficult to reach as the road is fairly hidden from downtown Kalispell, Montana. But if you go United States Route 2 west out of Kalispell and take Alternate United States Route 93 South and drive slow you will see the sign to the park. It is worth the work to get there. The park sits high on a bluff looking out over the city of Kalispell. It also provides beautiful views of the Whitefish Mountain Range to the north, The Columbia Mountain Range to the east, the Mission Mountain Range to the south and Flathead Lake. The Welcome Center is very good with park rangers providing a learning experience. Outside the trails are easy to hike even in street shoes and provide magnificent views in all directions. You can see it all in an hour and feel very satisfied or take a couple of hours and walk along the beautiful vistas and breath in the air. If you are in Kalispell be sure to see Lone Pine State Park.
Wonderful ranger station with great info and a nice trek. Parts are wheelchair acceptable. Good hike at the top bring your water. Great views of Kalispell.
Cool views of the Kalispell area, saw lots of wildlife on the way and down. Easy place to find and walk around at.
The views are incredible! The trail can be a little tricky in places but the overlook and the info center is worth the visit.
The park is very nice with tails to walk on and places to sit and watch nature...Great Views of the Valley and Mountains. The park building is full of great information and the rangers are so friendly.Love going there and bringing out of town guest there.
What a great little park to take our pups to get some exercise. The trails were well maintained and the views were beautiful!
The views are breathtaking and the volleyball court is a nice place to hang out at with friends! I go here at least 5 times a year and have been here numerous times... I will definitely be going here again.
This park is overlooking a cliff that faces the city of Kalispell and it's a beautiful view. There are trails and an interpretative building to visit. A nice quiet, relaxing place to meander and picnic.
Only 5 minutes from home and loaded with great walking, hiking trails. If you want to get in shape, be outdoors without bears with stunning views of the Flathead then Lone Pine is your place. They have a great visitor center also for big and small kids alike.
