We really enjoyed it and it was $12 for the entire family. It's rather small so it didn't take us long to walk through it but we went while the Lego exhibit was there an that was amazing! We will definitely keep an out for new exhibits and go often! Also, don't forget to ask to see the vault across the street. That is very interesting as well!
By Montana standards this is a great art museum. They try hard to bring the best shows that Billings, MT can support. It is a great building with good staff, and a respectable permanent collection.
Billings is so lucky to have such a fine art museum in the city. The art is well displayed and shows an array of talent among artists of the area.
Enjoyed seeing the western art. Liked the displays and visual optics of the museum Go and see yourself!!
Enjoyed being in the cool amongst the beautiful art - like an escape from the city. Its worth going.
Ever changing mix of familiar and challenging artistic expression, sure to expand and delight your views
It is interesting to see exhibits that are on loan from other countries and cities around the world. I felt that I was not missing being in a large city to see and exhibit. This was satisfying!
Loved this place. Even the kids loved it. Amazing to be surrounded by such creativity. We would go again!
The YAM's current exhibitions, Face to Face, Wall to Wall and Unconscious Bent are world class! If you have not had the opportunity to view these shows, you truly are missing out...the one and only contemporary art museum in the region offers some of the best art in the area!
This is a great little art museum with well designed permanent and traveling exhibits, which would do a city larger than Billings proud. The caliper of the traveling exhibits is amazing, and they are usually thought-provoking and ALWAYS beautifully presented. YAM provides a nice balance of modern and western art in new and interesting ways. I always enjoy my visits here and highly recommend that you visit soon.
This museum is well worth a visit, multiple visits even. My favorites are right next to each other, the Signac downstairs under the stairs, and the installation piece that reacts with the weather.
The Yellowstone Art Museum opened two new exhibits on Thursday, March 20th. One deals with Surrealism and offers many examples of fine art in various styles. The other exhibit has a picture created entirely of spools of thread, must be seen to appreciate. Upstairs also look tor the young man carrying his father and the security officer. Staff members are friendly and the docents know the material very well and are able to give you first hand insight into the art directly from the artists themselves.
I was in Billings for a family medical emergency...the winter weather was extreme...I went to the museum and really enjoyed myself...the natural light was the first thing I noticed....the display of space was very different from other museum....the staff was great and the children's art was fun to look at...and so full of energy...I would go back and take my family....all museum need to be visited and enjoyed...its just part of the visit when traveling
Mediocre at best, trying to bring "culture" to Billings. There are infinitely more interesting and quality museums in the country.
Manageable, well appointed art museum. Lots of Western Art as you might expect. Historical exhibits are great. Fine small snack bar and restaurant.
