My husband and I went whitewater rafting and it was the most amazing experience. I have to say I was a little scared at first, but I had an awesome time. Can't wait to do it again.

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend trip to Blackwater Falls. We love kayaking and this was our first time staying in WV, so we definitely wanted to check it out. Our trip was during the "off-season" (after the summer crowd and before the fall crowd), so we emailed them ahead of time to make sure that they were still open for the season. We got a prompt response and they were happy to accommodate us, even though no one else made reservations for that day. We got there early, as the drive from Blackwater Falls did not take as long as expected (about 35 minutes). The guy working there had a variety of kayaks loaded up and ready to go. He very nice and helpful, giving us some tips about the river and differences between the sit-in and sit-on kayaks, other than the obvious :) There was a very clean and spacious restroom/changing area to use before and after. For kayaking, we chose the 4 mile unguided tour. (There were options of 4 and 8 mile trips offered.) The 4 mile trip takes about 3 hours to complete. The staff member drove us up the river, unloaded the kayaks for us, and we had the rest of the day to enjoy. My husband chose a sit-on kayak and I chose the sit-in, both of which had extra space if you want to pack a lunch, camera, etc., which I highly recommend. Beautiful scenery and the most peaceful part of our trip. We'll definitely be stopping there again if we make another trip to Blackwater Falls.

This was a rafting trip on the Cheat River. you start at a meeting location and get your gear and instructions. Then it's a half hour bus ride to the put in. Then the next 3 hours are a sheer delight; there are 6 persons to a raft and a guide. Everyone has a life jacket on, a helmet to wear and a paddle to use. There are lots of rapids and lots of calm water. A cold lunch is served on the rocks and is plentiful. The guides make sure you get a real treat going through the rapids. There are places to get out of the raft and swim and even one place to climb a high rock and jump in the water!

The guide was awesome. He made it fun and he knew a lot about the river and where to take us. The swimming drop offs were cool too. My family had a great time smiles from ear to ear. Definitely worth checking out.

This was very fun. We took kayaks and canoes and spent about two hours on the river. It was a bit low at places, and we got hung up a couple times, but that made it more fun. Our kids are 11, 10, 9, and 7.

We (husband, wife, two sons (13 and 11 yrs old) enjoyed tubing down the Cheat River. It took about 3 hrs. because the water level was low, but was great fun and very relaxing. We could lean back and take in the beauty of the mountains that surrounded us. A few days later we went flat water kayaking. Again we had a great time, even got to see a black bear cub on the side of the river banks ahead of us. We stopped a good distance away and watched the bear cub swim across the river. A very memorable experience. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return.

Fair priced day of fun. My son and I had a great day Kayaking, the typical ride is 3 hours, without a tour guide. We loved the fact that we could explore by ourselves, we actually didn't have three hours (last minute decision) so they were able to drop us off where they drop the tubers (yes they have tubes) off and it was about an hour - hour and a half ride. It was gorgeous, the water was a little low, but nothing that was unmanageable. The staff was great, the prices were on par, and the views were beautiful! It was a great day and we'll be back with the entire family for tubing for sure.....

We took the four mile canoe trip with some small children (3, 3, 5 years). We went at a leisurely pace and it took us a bit more than 2 hours. The equipment was in good shape, the staff was friendly,and they had decent facilities. The river was a bit low and we had to get out of the canoes in a few places...but didn't have to drag the canoe too far. Overall we had a good time.

Had the best time whitewater rafting on the Cheat river Narrows in August. The river was running a little high from all the rain & we were a little nervous as the 3 of of us old timers (late 50;s (:) had never done this before! NO problem! Our guide was VERY patient with us & it was the MOST FUN we've had on a vacation in a long time! Prices are very reasonable & if we are ever back in WV I will be rafting with BOA again!

Had a great time at BOA. Rented 2 canoes and 1 kayak for our oldest child. Took us 4 miles upstream and with the current was 1 hr long canoe ride with small rapids to make it fun, but not scary. No one tipped over and everyone enjoyed it. Thanks BOA!

We had a wonderful day on the Cheat River with our experienced and friendly guides. Kids and adults all enjoyed the chance to swim in the pools and jump off the rocks. Beautiful scenery. Couldn't have been better.

We really enjoyed kayaking with blackwater outdoor adventures. The staff were very friendly and the scenery was beautiful.

We have been going to Blackwater Outdoor Adventures for a few years now and will continue to go as long as we can. The owners are real nice and very helpful. BOA is not too far from the DC area (about 3.5 hrs). The drive is very scenic and not congested during the week, so the time goes by quick. The BOA facility has room for parking and picnics, and they have a fairly new bath house. The building for checking in has a fun little store with t-shirts, hats, sandals and other accessories for water activities. The last time we went we had 6 in our party and took out canoes and a kayak. The water was slowly flowing so we had a nice leisurely pace down the river.

We have been going to Blackwater Outdoor's for the past 5 years. They work hard to provide you the best experience possible. Sometimes the water level is favorable, and sometimes you have to portage your canoe, but they will advise you on the best trip given the conditions. We plan to come back many more times over the years.
