Our family visited and stayed at the Bed and Breakfast. The place is warm and comfortable; an awesome place to relax and get away from it all. The weather was not perfect, but the experience was. We are looking forward to going back again soon when it warms up a bit. There is so much to do; we needed more time. Absolutely loved the trail ride and all the animals. The guest rooms are clean and comfy. The food was awesome. The staff are pleasant and smiling. Thank You Kelly! We hope to see you again very soon.

My wife and I had the best time at Splendor Farms. We enjoyed the trail ride (the trail horses were incredibly sweet and patient with those of us who aren't great riders) and loved feeding the goats! The room was also very comfortable and clean...perfectly appointed for a "home away from home." Ms. Kelly couldn't have been more courteous or welcoming. We're looking forward to returning in 2015!

I took my daughter and two of her friends to Splendor Farms on December 20th & 21st. They had the most amazing time playing with the animals and experiencing farm life. The La Louisiane room was perfect for us. It was very clean and the bed was so comforable. Ms. Kelly and her staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. Ms. Ann was especially delightful:-) Ms. Kelly is an amazing cook and the girls are really looking forward to visiting again! Thank you Ms. Kelly and staff for making this trip a memorable one for the girls.

My fiancé and I had been looking at the Splendor Farms website for over a year wanting to get one of their cream long haired dachshunds. After months on the waiting list, our baby was finally born! We made the trip out to come and stay at the farm for a night and thoroughly enjoyed our time. There were indeed farm dogs hanging out when we pulled up, but they were very friendly and well behaved, and did not jump on us or our vehicle as other reviews have indicated. The owner was extremely welcoming and gave us a tour of the place, including the dachshund kennels. Every dog and puppy appeared to be well cared for and in great shape. We fed the goats and ponies, walked around the farm to visit the horses, and met several girls who were there for horse camp, as well as another family staying at the b&b. As for the b&b itself, the room we stayed in was very comfortable and well decorated in a Louisiana theme, and the sheets and pillows were of hotel quality. The best part was the dining room where we had breakfast the next morning! Kelly spent time plenty of time with us, sharing her history of the farm and the kennels, and she cooked a fantastic breakfast for the group. We completely enjoyed our experience at Splendor Farms and I simply don't understand where the negative reviews here are coming from. To top it all off, our new dachshund puppy is very well trained, and I would recommend this breeder to anyone else looking for a show or pet quality dachshund to add to their family. We will be back to visit!

Only one hour drive from New Orleans, this was a nice relaxing getaway.Room was nice with comfortable bedding and and bathroom with tub. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer to use, so you don't have to bring your own unless you are picky. We had a small fridge and microwave in our room also.Kelly showed us around and explained everything to us. After settling in, we went fishing in the pond with cane poles with hotdog bait. We didn't catch anything, but we saw some turtles and it was relaxing.Next we did our own version of a "hike", which was a short walk into the woods just to say we did it.For dinner we went to the Seafood House. It was Halloween night, so people were dressed in costumes and there were some decorations like a skelaton sitting at a table with a bucket of crab shells. The all-you-can-eat buffet was $24 plus tax and I think $2 for drink. I opted for the buffet with no seafood, the cost for that is only $12 and there is still plenty of choices available including a decent salad bar.The next morning up early for a delicious breakfast starting with granola and fresh fruit.I ordered the mexican breakfast with guacamole and refried beans...delish!I am not a coffee drinker, so I was impressed by Kelly's offering of hot cocoa (mashmallows available) or tea...I had white and green tea infusion...MY FAVORITE!! They even had raw sugar! (Was Kelly reading my mind?) There's also ice water served in lovely glass goblets, and choice of juice and preserves...and top it off with a blueberry muffin!Next up...the trail ride. If you are a beginner, this is perfect. It's a nice leisure ride that is relaxing and allows you to enjoy the surroundings. Before you know it, it was time to go...we forgot to visit with the sheep and goats. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thanks Kelly, Ann, Maddie and everyone else.

Our experience on the farm was great. We were greeted by Ms. Kelly upon arriving and she gave us a tour and showed us to our room. The room was very charming. We spent an hour cane pole fishing in the pond and caught some small perch. We drove to Covington for dinner at Chimes- definitely recommend!! Kelly cooked us a delicious breakfast (seriously delicious!) the next morning and we were on our way. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others who want to get away from the city life for a night. It truly is a ranch, so bring your boots :)

It's funny that the few negative reviews ignore the fact that this B&B is a "farm", which is in the name of the place. If you don't want to be on a farm, this place is not for you. I, however, enjoyed the fact that it wasn't immaculately clean, that there was a natural farm smell to it, and that the owner and the staff are laid back and not kissing your butt all day. The room was quaint and well-supplied. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The horseback riding was the perfect length of time and well-supervised. The farm was small but maintained. We had dogs and cats lounging outside the house that were friendly and fun. The pool was very nice and in a beautiful setting. There were nice trails to walk/hike adjacent to the farm. And I found Kelly to be very nice and a true Louisianian. She gave us a very nice tour/introduction to the farm and highlighed many of the area's restaurants and attractions upon our arrival. My wife and I preferred to just stay on the farm for our visit, spending time with the animals and relaxing on the porch, though we did try the House of Seafood which was excellent. If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, try going to the Ritz Carlton. But if you're cool with a farm in the middle of the countryside, then this is a highly recommendable B&B. Thank you, Splendor Farms for a very nice getaway from the city.

We have received your review and would like to say we are sorry you felt we were rude when you tried to schedule a ride at the last minute before your voucher expired. We are truly sorry that you waited too long to schedule and we didn't have an opening. I do remember we had a couple of spots open during the week prior to it expiring, but it didn't work for your schedule. Secondly, the statement made "the lady who books the rides was very unprofessional and completely rude on the phone just because the horse back riding was purchased through Living Social" is a complete falsehood. Splendor Farms has been running 1/2 price deals with Living Social, Groupon, Bargain Bee, Crowdsavers, and Amazon Local since 2010. If we didn't like running the deals and accepting the paid vouchers, we simply wouldn't run them. Lastly, there is an expiration on the vouchers for a specific reason. We run the deals every 6 months. We hope the customer will purchase the deal and make their reservations as quickly as they can so the deals/customers don't overlap each other. Remember, when you get that reminder from the company to use your voucher, so did tens of others and when everyone waits until days to book their reservation before it expires, sometimes we cannot accommodate you. We have 20 to 25 horses we use for customers to trail ride on and there are only so many hours in a day to go out on the trails. We are sorry, once again, your experience in booking a ride was unpleasant.

The experience at the farm was fabulous. You drive up and the farm is set back among the trees. You check in around the back into the gorgeous, yet quaint dining room decorated to make you feel at home. Kelly's breakfasts are to die for. Everything was delicious and fresh and plentiful. We didn't need lunch! The kennels are amazing. Filled with beautiful long haired dachshunds. The kennels were clean and spacious. The dogs were healthy and friendly. We bought one and brought her home to Florida. Her temperament is perfect and she didn't utter peep on the plane. Her behaviour is that of a well loved, well trained dog. The farm animals and horses were delightful. I enjoyed getting up early and watch them as they were getting fed. They would rush to the fence for their food. It was so peaceful looking over the pasture and watching the horses. It is a working farm, but everything is neat and clean. The room we stayed in was quaint, cool, and comfortable. I would love to go back and bring all the grandchildren. Kelly treated us like family and I feel we are family. Kelly works hard, but is never too busy to chat, answer questions, suggest wonderful places to dine. We will always be grateful to her for the love she gave Ava while in her care for almost 6 years. We are committed to love Ava for as long as she lives.. We are so blessed and so thankful.

My husband, 5, almost 6 yr old, and I spent the night.... mostly to ride horses in the morning and was so surprised at the amazing time we had. The animals were well kept, the staff were very personable, and Kelly was an excellent host! My son has already asked to go back and I am ready!!! Thank you Kelly and staff!!!

We spent one night here and loved it. We came to see the little pup we purchased, but wouldn't pick up until the end of September. We thoroughly enjoyed the show the dachshunds put on. Very entertaining. Breakfast was fabulous. Kelly cooks the breakfast herself. My husband and I had French Toast and Bacon. The food was excellent. We were so impressed with the dachshunds, that we purchased a beautiful black and cream long haired dachshund to take home with us. Can't wait to return in September to pick up our 2nd furry friend. Highly recommend.

wow wow wow is all i can say! i don't even know where to start. I had been anticipating this trip since i bought the deal in Feb, which got pushed all the way to July because its gotten so booked up but now i see why! if you don't visit this place your crazy. Yes there is a weight limit on the horse back rides of max of 250 lbs. so its your own fault if you wanna go there thinking otherwise about your weight vs horseback riding. HOWEVER, Mrs. KElly is phenominal! The room we stayed in was the Louisiana Room. IT was purple my favorite color!!! it was homey, clean and comfortable. My teenager was spectical about coming , thought she would be bored, not even! she had a ball with the animals (the baby goat in particular ) that just loved abbie! the Datschun puppies are soooo adorable! and the horses are wonderful! The pool was clean, felt WONDERFUL! The dining room had an antique ambiance about it, with Frank Sinatra playing on a radio in the back ground. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is for sure the place to go!!!! i have NEVER been treated so wonderfully at breakfast with the most amazing breakfast ever!!! The grounds are full of cats, dogs goats, a pig, roosters rabbits horses dragon flies. The trail ride was right after breakfast, they did an awesome job of matching the horse to the person, mine was spunky and fast, Abbie's was slow and stubborn HAHAHAAH, and my hubby's horse did whatever he wanted it to do. the trail ride lasted about an hour and a half. it was just so nice. i have found another happy place! its perfect!!!! Its amazing and i fell in love. we will be back Mrs. Kelly!!! thank you for everything!!!!

Our journey to Splendor Farms was mainly to visit Kelly and see the dogs she had in the kennels. Driving over seven hours from Atlanta GA to Bush LA, we were not really sure what to expect when we arrived. The peaceful nature of the surrounding area set the stage for a very tranquil, relaxing stay. As we approached Splendor Farms, it was obvious this was not just a quaint B&B with a dog kennel, but a true working Farm. As we pulled in and parked the car, we were greeted by some of the staff. They were pleasant and directed us to where Kelly was. We met her emerging from the one of the kennels. From the moment we introduced ourselves, I got that warm feeling of being welcomed. We chatted and then she showed us around and introduced us to the various litters and dogs in her kennels. I am still amazed at how she keeps track of all the dogs’ names and linages! After spending some time talking with Kelly, we were shown our room. I was pleasantly surprised that the air conditioning was cool and crisp, the room had a TV (unlike many B&Bs), and the décor was appealing, neat and clean. From someone who travels extensively for work, I appreciated the comfort and cleanliness of the room. The room has a fridge and as Kelly alerted us, “There are hotdogs and crackers in the fridge – the hotdogs are for bait when you go fishing and crackers are to feed the goats.” Bamboo fishing poles are hung alongside the barn – there’s something special about them, it brought back memories of my childhood!Being late in the day, Kelly offered recommendations for dinner in the local area. (Note - An abundance of menus are available in the dining room). We took her advice and drove to Abita Springs for dinner – This is a quaint town not far away that offers a variety of food selections. We returned to the farm later in the evening and relaxed in our room. We filled out our breakfast selection, “slipped it under the door” as directed and then hit the sack. Peaceful, quiet and refreshing is how I describe our night.I woke to the smell of bacon. That’s always a winner! We relocated to the dining room where we found fresh juices, hot coffee, and a smiling Kelly. (This woman is amazing, her day starts at 3-4 AM – she attends to the needs of the farm, the kennels and then shows up looking completely refreshed and prepares breakfast for her guests! Her vivacious personality will surely make your visit memorable!)Breakfast started with fruit, yogurt and granola cup. Followed by delicious fresh French Toast with hot syrup, and bacon…MMM good!I recommend this B&B if you want delicious food, a relaxing farm environment and are comfortable around genuine people that work hard to make your stay enjoyable. We will be going back!

We have received and read your review. This review is hysterical. I commend you for your imagination. You forgot the part when you were so happy until you learned that at 325 pounds you exceeded our weight limit and would not be allowed to ride. You also forgot the part when you were polite to our trail guide about not being able to accommodate you, but you were hostile and a bully to me when we were alone, threatening me with writing bad reviews about me all over the universe! Oh, and we all enjoyed the story of how you told our trail guide you were 260 pounds and your daughter said "daddy, you were 325 yesterday when you got on the scales!" Thank you, Brett, we enjoyed the laugh. Based on the fact we have received a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor for the past two years, and we have numerous honest reviews on our website, as well as on Trip Advisor, we will just have to ignore your bullying, dishonest, sensationalizing personality, staged photos, and let our attorneys take care of the rest. Best of luck to you. I would like to add, I have played your voice mails to the authorities and they were not amused with your "what I have done so far has barely scratched the surface of what I can do to you...." message.

We went for my wife's birthday and have a five-year-old daughter. Everything was as advertised. Lodging: We stayed in the Louisiana room. Comfortable queen bed, bathroom, mini fridge, microwave oven, ceiling fan, Wi-Fi, and direct TV on a flat screen. Kelly even left out ear plugs for us in case it got too loud in the morning. This is a working farm with a tractor and chickens and a kennel. We found that if you close the bathroom door it kept everything relatively quiet and we slept well for the two nights that we were there. The room is right in the middle of everything: the pool is only a few steps away, the goats, donkey, pigs, sheep, a catfish pond and kennel are less than 100 feet away. This was great since it rained the weekend we went and we could run out and see the animals or swim when they had breaks in the rain. There are complimentary animal crackers to feed the goats with as well as hot dogs if you want to go fishing in the catfish pond (catch and release) in the refrigerator.Breakfast: Yum! Kelly is an awesome cook. The first day we had fresh granola and yogurt with assorted fruits. There is also coffee, tea, and ice water with lemon. Everything was incredibly fresh. We then had Something Sweet: French toast with blueberries, warm maple syrup, and powdered sugar with crispy bacon on the side. Our five-year-old is a picky eater, and Kelly was very accommodating by deconstructing the meal to her taste. On our second day she even made the fruit plate into a smiley face for our child. On the second day we had Huevos Rancheros: fried eggs on a corn tortilla with cheese and homemade Ranchero sauce. We're not crazy about fried eggs so we have them scrambled and again Kelly was accommodating and it was delicious. On the side was homemade refried beans, zucchini, tomatoes, and a homemade taquito. Kelly even brought out homemade blueberry muffins which were divine. We were stuffed!Grounds: again, it rained the entire weekend so naturally everything was wet. We're the type of people to make the best of the situation. Kelly and the workers constantly apologized for the bad weather but really it's just Mother Nature. Everything is very clean and clearly the animals are all very well cared for. You're constantly surrounded by horses. Kelly said they have over 30 horses on the ranch. Our five-year-old love the swimming pool, feeding the goats, petting the rabbits, and visiting the horses in the stables. We would have explored the grounds even more if it wasn't so wet, but even so there's plenty to do. There are even some very friendly cats and dogs on the property which are five-year-old loved. The kennel has many adorable puppies to pet and a couple came in all the way from Orlando to buy one of them.Again, everything is very clean and it is obvious that the animals are well loved. Kelly offered to let us feed the chickens in the morning, but we passed on the offer so we could sleep in.Trail Rides: since our daughter is five, she could not go on the trail rides with us (8 minimum age) so they let her ride on the horse in the arena with a guide and helmet. It was great! Seeing the giant smile on my child's face was worth the entire weekend. The first day we went, it was raining the entire day we didn't think that our child would get to ride, so we just went back to the room. One of the trail guides, Sage, came and knocked on our door as soon as the rain let up so Kate could have a turn in the arena. We were extremely appreciative. I also went on a trail ride that day while my wife and daughter swam, and it was wonderful. There is a large area of forest trails on the property, and although it was wet, it was a great ride. My horses name was Rio. I am a beginner rider at best and the horse was very tame and sweet and led me along the property with the guide. On the second day, our child road again in the arena after breakfast, and then my wife went on a different trail ride to the lake. The horses name was Leo, and it was a nice trip.Service: don't listen to any of the reviews saying that the employees were rude. We saw none of that. Our trail guide asked us how breakfast was and everything was yes sir and no sir and very accommodating. Other people working on the property smiled and waved and told us hello as well. Kelly was very hospitable, answered all of our questions, and was even offered suggestions for our dinner plans. Overall we would highly recommend this bed and breakfast or even just for a day visit of trail rides and a working farm.
