In addition to the massive Play Scape the Water Play was a great way to cool off after playing. The park is kept very clean and the rules are enforced by the security guard that is on duty during the hours the park is open. The Play Scape has something for all ages.
Nice. Clean. Lots for kids to play on/with. Carriage ride should be done at least once. The driver we had gave great historical stories of the area.
We were in town visiting relatives and my son wanted to play, took him here and he fully enjoyed it again. Park is immaculate, has free wi-fi, overall the best place to take kids in the area.
The family and I needed to burn off some energy and found this park right near the lake. We just happened to go when no one else was there too. The kids climbed and played, while I just took in some sun on the swings. It didn't take long for the kiddos to notice the spray pad right next door. They played "dodge the drops" but soon lost, of course. This park was in fantastic shape with a rubber type surface. It can be hot to the footsies when not wearing shoes. There was a very kind security officer at the front gate as well.
This is fantastic. HUGE and FREE. There are so many wonderful things for kids to do here. Lots of slides, swings, things to crawl in and under. There is a Tot Spot for ages 2-5, then several other VERY large structures for older kids. There are plenty of benches for adults as well. Then as if that wasn't enough ( and it is) there is a splash area with sprinklers, places to run under and get wet etc. This is a wonderful park. Every town needs one. The day we were there , there were several food trucks parked out the outskirts and you could get a popsicle or cool drink before you left ( although no food or drink in the play area) . We are just staying here overnight, but may go back tomorrow....
This is the most wonderful lakeside park for children of all abilities that you'll find anywhere along the Gulf Coast. And it's free! Originally designed by the children and families of Lake Charles, and then recently refurbished after a fire, the park incorporates familiar scenes from the area. Swings, sand, slides, climbing areas, a water feature and an area for specials needs families all make this a very unique park. Large enough to handle lots of children, but not too large to loose anyone, this is a great place for children or grandchildren of all ages. On weekends there are frequently food trucks nearby to help with the overwhelming need for ice cream, tacos, drinks....etc. The park is open seven days a week during daylight hours. There is a fence surrounding the park for everyone's safety.
Amazing place. It's beautiful n spacious. I'm taking my lil one here every time we visit. It has so many levels. My daughter had so much fun.
This is probably the best place for kids in the Lake Charles area. It is a giant park on the West side of the civic center. It features a giant castle like structure with multiple layers, hiding spots, slides, and other features. There is also a large pirate ship with multiple layers, a sand pit, and a toddler area. For the summer there is a giant splash pad, probably the largest in Lake Charles.I recommend 1-2 hours here, my 3 sons played for 3 hours on a mild sunny January afternoon with temps in the mid 60's.
