Windmill Market is such a great part of the community. There are several food options, offered up by local vendors. There's also a clear and substantial effort to be environmentally friendly. Love the look and feel of the market. And now there is the opportunity to get fresh, locally grown amazing produce. I got some of the veggies and they were fantastic! Highly recommend this as a place to visit while in town. They also offer a number of events and educational opportunities. Great people!
Yummy food. Love the little stands. The shoppes are so cute. My cousins/family and I had a great time here in Fairhope. Even has clean restrooms!
We sat outside, listened to music, tried some Fairhope beer and a variety of excellent sandwiches on fresh baked bread. It was a great afternoon!
Yum! Stop by the Frios stand for a creamy frozen Popsicle. I had sea salt caramel and kids had cookie & milk. Excellent alternative to ice cream.
Imaginative business idea. Little booths of crafts and forward thinking green businesses housed in one big amazing open air type building. Not your run of the "mill" place. The food was very good and simple. A nice afternoon diversion for the granola crowd. I bought a nice candle in one of the booths.
We thought this was a flea market, it is not. There are some unique gift ideas here and the creation from recycled material are truly creative. Kudos to the artist. There are a number of small eatrys there. We ate we ate at a little sandwich shop, a little black man is the cook and he makes amazing sandwiches. The Boston pulled butt is very good and his barbeque sauce is some of the best I have ever tasted. The men in our party were not too pleased with their beer. The young man who was entertaining was really good and I really enjoyed his selections.
The Windmill always has something going on nearly every day of the week. On weekends they have live music; from time to time, they have culinary classes, such as one I attended on everything related to crab. I think their best-kept secret is their breakfast: their menu is varied, and all their offerings are made from scratch in the kitchen. The little shops adjacent to the restaurant offer all kinds of locally-made goods, arts and crafts, and the produce at their market is also all from local sources.
Shopping, music, restaurants all under one roof !! Friday pizza night at Sweet Olive is the best !! Merchants support local charities and organizations :)
Mary Ann's+Sweet Olive's restaurants. Local produce. BBQ restaurant to open soon. Really nice helpfull staff.
I enjoy the local music, art, and food! This place has a great sense of community! It is a treat every visit!
One block off the main drag, you should definitely make sure this is on your itinerary. Local, reasonably priced art sold here. Locally sourced groceries and three places to eat lunch or breakfast round out your experience. Weekends you will find live music on the patio. A great place to rest for awhile with a beer or glass of wine.
The Windmill market is great, you can find some locally grown veggies and local products. The Sweet Olive bakery & juice bar is a must, where you can find great healthy meals and fresh juices. The building is super green and eco friendly. I bought a wood board that was made from rescue wood locally. If you like healthy and green stuff its the place to go. Good for vegetarians and vegans to eat.
We loved this spot. After perusing the local art and locally-sourced groceries. We ordered fresh, delicious good and drinks from Sweet Olive and enjoyed it outside in the sunshine on the patio while enjoying the Sunday afternoon live, relaxing song-songwriter perform. Totally relaxing and enjoyable. A gem in Fairhope.
This is a wonderful experience, local producers with their items in the shops as well as live entertainment and several restaurant options under one roof! Mary Ann's Deli has a delicious sandwich called the Maiben......or the Cosmopolitan Salad trio is alway delicious..., an ALL GREEN facility the building alone is a lesson in Smart design and Earth Friendly ways of shopping from the Farmers Market, to the restaurants to the local crafts in the shops.
Windmill Market is a must-go-to place! (easy to find--on corner of Bancroft and Equality in downtown Fairhope area...two blocks north of Fairhope Ave, one block east of Section St.) Here's what we discovered...EAT...Something for everyone in our group...more than one place to grab a bite: Sweet Olive, MaryAnn's Deli, BSide. Most of us tried Sweet Olive for lunch--delicious!!! Some went back for breakfast the next morning--yummmm!SHOP...Organic market (veggies, meats, snacks), shops, etc...MUSIC...We learned that someone is usually playing in the picnic area.REST...We found several places...a spacious covered picnic area or where you eat/drink. For lunch, we sat (relaxed) on the couch just inside (from the picnic area.) For breakfast we sat at the counter in Sweet Olive. And...Windmill Market is GREEN!
