My husband and I stopped by here on our 39th anniversary in August, 2014. We enjoyed watching children of all ages playing in the water. We loved the music and just wished we'd been there at night to see the light show. Besides the water playground there is an amazing playground for all ages to enjoy, Can't wait to take my three yeat old grandson there this summer!
The water display is set to music, the area is not far from the Wilson Dam and the Mariott hotel and spa, which is the nicest hotel in Florence Al.
We always enjoy being here as the sun sets and the park workers play Muscle Shoals type music to the beat of pulsating lights. As a photographer, the lights can create some interesting effects. Night cap for an evening out for the family. The water and the playing kids...quite a bit of fun. In summer, the Mosquitos from the nearby backwaters can be an issue.
Nice part on the river! Great little splash pad that sprays in beat with the music coming out of the large speakers around the park (so cool)! Nice little playground (my 5 year old LOVED it)!!! Great view of the river and dam! IT'S FREE!!!
We brought our 10 yr. old granddaughter with a friend and they had a ball, dividing time between the excellent playground and the water pad. Very clean, well managed. A great summer escape. You may want to bring folding chairs , as no seating available in the shaded pavilion.
We have a picnic with barbecue sandwiches at this park every time we go to Florence. The Tennessee river is flowing slowly by with romantic river boat paddle wheeler blowing as they go by. Grab a table near the river bank. Take a blanket and enjoy!
The biggest surprise is that this is a city park that is open to the public. The Spash Pad is wonderful for the kids on a hot day. The water jets are large enough to entertain even my teenage children. The evening light and music show was worth our trip alone. The music played all has a connection to the Shoals Area. I heard well-known songs I never knew had a connection to the Shoals. The light show was incredible and my children stayed until after closing.
This is a newer park in Florence. The trees are not mature so there isn't much shade. The main attraction is the splash pad for children. Very noisy so unless you like kids, stay away.
We love visiting this park. It accommodates large groups if you want to have a gathering for church or family. It's always clean and there's plenty of parking. One of the best parks in the Shoals.
We really loved visiting the River Heritage Park this summer. My child is 3 so the nearby park was really fun for her to explore and play on, but the "splash pad" was incredible and would be great for even teenaged children. It was a 'cool' 90 degrees when we were there this August, but my child loved cooling off in the splash pad and I enjoyed the music and the view of the dam and river. They play music from the surround speaker/towers and the water goes up and down with the tempo-delightful for children! It is also free so that made it especially fun for me. ;) There is not a lot of shade for the parents, but we were only there 45 mins and that was okay. I plan on returning to the area soon, but will probably wait for May so that we can have this on our list of things to do for the young one.
