We visited Dutch Harbor in September during our cruise.and Bobbie of Extra Mile Tours did an excellent job introducing us to this lovely island. There is a lot of history here and as other reviewers have mentioned, it takes a local to really tell you about the history. Bobbie made a special arrangement with the church (which was actually closed the day we were there) to have someone open the church for our group to show and tell us about its history.I would highly recommend Bobbie and Extra Mile Tours whenever you visit this area.

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor is chock full of history, but if you don't know where to look for it, you'll be driving around reading signage and missing most of what is here. If you're only in town for work or to fish, you probably don't care about this anyway. But if you like history, botany, birding (especially eagles), native culture, archaeology, local background and stories, a tour with Bobbie is a prerequisite for being on the island. The fishing and fish processing industry overshadows the town, but there are ample tales worth learning and sites to see and Bobbie is the one to take you. She picks you up and tailors the time to suit you so don't be shy to tell her what your interests might be. We rode with her for four hours and found the time ample and valuable. One after thought, our 11 year old daughter was in a funk and I wish we had left her in the hotel room with the TV while her Mom and I enjoyed learning and seeing so much. I highly recommend the tour and wish similar ones were as readily available in other locations. Bobbie does this because of her passion for the lore of the community and her desire to share it with others.

Is probably the only Tours agency that really have take the time to introduce this unique and remote island,it take a lots of courage for someone to take the time,to share their town with someone else, specially in this place where everything is about fishing, and rush to make the money before the season is gone.. The knowledge of this beautiful and small place full of wanders but difficult to discover without help is great,..As a frequent traveler to this Island for over 20 year I recommended their services, Even that you can go solo and enjoy the Island...

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor is a small town, and if you have a map and rental car you can pretty much see all the "high points" of the town in one day. Not wanting to take any chances, we had planned to stay a second day and had reserved the four-hour tour with Extra Mile Tours. As far as I know there are only two tour companies on the island; the other is run by Bobbi's sister-in-law. It's a small place. We ran into Bobbi and her tour three or four times on our first day, and knew that we had covered much of her posted itinerary. Thus it came as a considerable and delightful surprise when she started our tour the next day with a brand-new place, not on her posted itinerary. That is, her whole tour was built around us, knowing we had already seen all the "high points." Everywhere we went, she pointed out the wildlife (lots of Eagles!), flowers and plants and what they were used for in the native culture (salmonberries, Yum!) and island history (the island is riddled with World War II bunkers, etc.). She stopped to chat with locals here and there, and at one point asked us to wave to her brother passing by on his boat. It was like visiting family and having them show you around. At day's end we could have picked up a map of the island and colored in every road – we had seen it all!I'm sure both tour companies are excellent, and regardless of how much time you have in Dutch Harbor/Unalaska (your guide will explain that) you should definitely include one of them in your plans.
