Amazing! David has a wonderful video presentation. The cabin and the creek are absolutely stunning. Gina is a wonderful host and great cook. Best of all she's a wonderful teacher and a gifted artist. Every silk scarf turns out different and personal. This is a must do activity! Bring your friends, co-workers, create a mother-daughter date or even bring your spouse! It's more than experience - it's good fun!
Took friends here when they were visiting and it was an extremely fun evening. Painting our scarves, enjoying the lovely setting of the home next to a beautiful creek, and the delish soup and salad dinner made for a perfect evening with friends.
This is a must do for anyone who love to creat something unique and artistic. The silk painting is fun, not complicated and the final result is your own wearable art. The hospitality of Gina and Dave is so warm and welcoming and the creekside setting for painting our silk scarves was perfect!Highly recommend!! Home prepared meal included.
This truly is an Art EXPERIENCE. I originally had paid for a friend of mine and myself to go and paint scarves. She had to cancel last minute and I ended up taking my 10 year old son along. He really was not interested at first, but in the end had so much fun.Dave and Gina are excellent hosts who bring you into their home and allow you to feel like part of their family. Appetizers/beverages greet you as well as their friendly dog Pepper.Gina takes the time to demonstrate the technique and then helped me and my son individually to paint the scarves.I was in awe of their beautiful log cabin home and the unbelievable setting. The sun was out, the creek was flowing and I was completely inspired to delve into my (previously unknown) creative side without hesitation. My son kept saying he could not wait to come back and paint again. He painted 2 scarves for his grandmothers and they are so beautiful. I was shocked at how simple yet satisfying this whole experience was.I cannot wait to go back. Many of my friends will now receive hand-painted silk scarves for birthdays.
This was a wonderful day and experience I plan to return with my mom so she can experience the beauty and art too
What could be better than gathering around new friends, food and fun! The experience of making art in the "wilderness" of Alaska is worth making time for in your schedule! I was so pleased to be a part of the evening with Gina and David as they graciously guided our group through the evening. Don't miss this creative fun!
Our family visited Alaska on vacation in July 2014, and we chose this as an activity to do while we were in the Anchorage area. Having not done anything like this in the past, and having limited artistic abilities, I was a bit hesitant, but we had a great time. This is in large part due to the proprietors, Gina and David. Gina is very talented and a patient instructor, and they are both very hospitable. It is uncommon these days to be welcomed in such a gracious fashion. Our family made several scarves for personal use and for gifts, and they turned out fantastic. The setting is serene and beautiful - we even got brave and stuck our toes in the 45 degree creek until our teeth chattered. All in all, this was a wonderful time and a great way to spend an evening. Highly recommended!
I have been to Alaska Art Experience twice now and have loved it each time. The scarves are gorgeous and Gina and Dave make you feel like a real artist. Both times I brought visiting family at the end of their trip and it was a nice relaxing evening after the craziness of trying to see all Alaska offers in one week's time. This is a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. I wear my scarves regularly and get compliments constantly. Plus, I gave one away and my friend gushed over how beautiful it is, sweet!
Gina is an incredibly gracious and kind host...and an outstanding cook!I attended the workshop with my mother in law and couldn't have asked for a better evening...a beautiful setting overlooking a rushing creek, delicious food (loved the Thai carrot curry and the peanut butter Nutella thumbprint cookies), and the fun of trying something new. Gina is a patient teacher, and you will leave with a pretty scarf no matter what your level of skill is. My MIL is a talented painter, and I am a beginner, but we both enjoyed our time and the scarfs we made.
Wonderful time - and stepping outside my usual activity to try something unique and enjoyable that I get to wear and enjoy as my own creation. Gracious hosts - wonderful food and spectacular setting. My best friend and I had a great time and now have many memories to share of our special evening together. Gina was so helpful to make sure our scarfs looked great and helped us all through the process. It was so relaxing. What a memorable experience. Highly recommended
My sister and I had a marvelous time learning to paint on silk and talking to Gina. Her hospitality is superb and her husband is gracious, oh and Pepper the dog is a sweetheart. My sister and I had so many giggles and laughs with each other. On our next visit to Alaska we will be certain to paint with Gina again.
My mother and 2sisters went to this wonderful place a week ago . It was a terrific experience . We had so much fun and the soup salad and home made bread added to the fun. The setting is beautiful and the hostess and instructor was wonderful . I highly recommend it for anyone after all if my 90 year old mom can do it anyone can!!!!! Come try it you will love it
Gracious hosts. Beautiful location. Wonderful experience. My parents made their third trip to visit me in Alaska, this time for rest and relaxation. We needed something a little different than the grand adventure or the typical tourist shtick. I knew of Gina's Art Experience through a personal connection and thought we'd give it a whirl. It was fantastic! My dad lazed about by the creek and on a hammock in the front yard watching the robins while we enjoyed a little mother-daughter time painting and talking. Gina topped it off with a delicious lunch of homemade bread and soup and a fresh salad. This was a delightful afternoon! My parents loved it and keep talking about it. I thought it was fantastic and am already making plans to take some friends later in the summer!
My parents and I spent a week in Alaska, and this was by far the highlight of our trip. David & Gina were the most hospitable people, and really made sure we had a great time. I would recommend this to every person, young, old, group, solo, anything - just DO THIS!
I can't remember a more enjoyable and relaxing summer morning/afternoon. Just a short drive from Anchorage and you are enjoying the hospitality of Gina and David. The scarf painting is incredibly creative and a fun form of self expression. Plus you get to take it home as a souvenir!!! Gina is there every step of the way with suggestions and encouragement. The location is beautiful. The sound of the babbling creek is the perfect background music. Not only is Gina an excellent artist, but a great chef. Her lunches are delicious. It was almost too hard to paint with the smell of fresh bread wafting through the air. This is an experience not to be missed. And don't forget to bring a dog cookie for Pepper. But only if her "mom" says it's ok..Gina's other artwork is also available. (I have my eye on a pair of jellyfish.) Thank you Gina and David for your hospitality. We had an incredible time.
