This was the most amazing cave. The stalactites are gorgeous. The cave was warmer than outside and gorgeous. The people were so nice. Had a great gift shop. It was also a good value for my money. I cannot recommend it more highly.
This cave, the Ozark National Forest,is very, very beautiful and deeply interesting. For size, nothing beats Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico as one would expect. However, this cave is a 'live' cave which means it is still under formation and you can see the water dripping as it forms new attractions [ don't plan to wait for them though as they take thousands of years to form ]. The money, time and effort they have spent in the exquisite lighting makes the cave come alive. Photos are allowed but be careful that you know your camera and exactly what you are doing or you can wash out your photos because of the different lighting available. Flash lighting has a tendency to 'wash out' your photos if you are not careful. The tour guides can be exceptional but we have had some new ones that weren't as interesting. I'd ask at the front if you can chose a guide with more experience. You can chose distinctly different tours. The easiest, one hour I believe, is fully ramped with no steps and is for us older decrepit folks but is well worth your investment of time and money. A second tour takes more energy and stamina and I've been told is well worth it if you can handle the extra walking. And finally, they have the 'spelunkers' tour in which you'll wear helmet with light and crawl for part of it. It is completely safe but is not for those suffering from claustrophobia. You have to allow time to explore the area around the cave when your tour is complete. Beautiful MIRROR LAKE, the BLANCHARD SPRINGS WATERFALL outside of the cave, open to all at no charge. DON'T MISS A TOUR OF YOUR CHOICE!
The cabin staff was great. Resturant was amazing and great value. Very friendly! I would differently recommend
The tour guide was able to answer even the most obscure questions from our kids and offered interesting stories to accompany the fantastic scenery.
We very much enjoyed our tour of the caves. The only tour open when we were there in October was the short one, but I would recommend it.
Four of us went on the wild cave tour and I cannot put into words how amazing it was! You have to be able to crawl into tight spots and scale 100ft drop offs, I admit I was terrified when I found out we wouldn't have any ropes or anchors, but our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly he talked you through every step. It was a little expensive but we definitely got our money's worth, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the cave in it's natural state, beyond the the trails and lights. Bring your courage though you will need it! Ask for Aaron Christopher to be your guide, he was ours and I would never want to go spelunking with any other guide again, he was so helpful & knowledgeable about everything!
Set aside an hour to tour the Dripstone Cavern and soak up a bit of American history and geology. Kid-friendly.
We've been to a lot of caverns, but I don't remember any that were more spectacular than this! They have done a fine job with walkways and lighting so that you can really see the formations well. We took the Dripstone Trail tour which is available year round. It was about an hour long and included many wonderful formations. (The Discovery Trail only operates at certain time of the year because they don’t want to disturb hibernating bats.) Our guide was very informative and interesting, and the trail was very easy. The nearby town of Mountain View is also very quaint and interesting and has a wonderful fudge shop.
Such resonance inside the cavern... beautiful lilting flows and ebbs off of the interior of the caverns. A must see. Spine tingling waves of euphoria as the music takes you to another era and displays the time period in a way that romanticizes the experience in a way that is never forgotten.
Fantastic. We have been on several cave tours in different parts of the country and this one is by far the BEST. If you are in the area this is a must do.
Headed north from Fairfield Bay to kill some time and let the day warm up before playing some golf. Had no, to low expectations based upon my lack of knowledge of the area. But our group was completely blown away by the quality of the Blanchard Springs Cavern facilities, knowledge of the staff (in particular our guide Dalton), and the exceptional pristine beauty of the cavern. Blanchard Springs is definitely a hallmark destination, and not just a time killer.
I had read about this in a guide book and decided since I was in the area to check it out and was so glad I did. I took about a 90 minute tour with a great guide. The path through the caverns is easy to walk and the caverns were very impressive, especially a couple of large rooms, I think this is a hidden gem in Arkansas.
take the ride on an elevator down to the caverns, with guide on well lighted paved with handrails. beautiful curtain, stalactites and stalagmites, huge cathedral room and underground ponds.
Blanchard Springs Caverns offers three different tours. The Discovery trail is longer and requires more stamina and sure-footedness. The Wild Cave tour is more of an introduction to caving, so it isn’t for everyone and you can’t take the tour without reservations and prior preparation. We took the Dripstone trail which was beautiful. We didn’t make reservations and there were probably 20 people in the tour group that we took, but late October isn’t a peak month to visit the caves. During the summer reservations are recommended, especially if you have a group of 15 or more. The only animals allowed on the tours are seeing-eye and service dogs. While we waited at the visitor center for the tour to start we watched the movie explaining what to expect. As we toured the cave, our tour guide explained many of the same things that were covered in the movie, but that just helped us understand what we were seeing all the better. Our tour guide was excellent and we enjoyed all the things he pointed out along the way. It is hard to describe the majesty of the formations that dwarf the trail through the cave. Portions of the trail were steep, but we had no difficulty navigating them. This particular trail is wheelchair accessible if you have a strong assistant to help control your descent. My husband has difficulty walking, bad knees, but he did fine. There is a handrail all along the trail, but it is usually wet and cold. We wore jackets and good grip shoes for the trek. I am not particularly fond of being underground, but I really did enjoy this tour. The lighting in the caves was done by a design specialist who usually does opera houses; it made all the difference. If you have an Access Pass your ticket is half-price, but if friends or family go with you they have to pay full price.
We went here wondering what this was about and if it was worth our time. Wow it was great! The guide was great! We left talking about how it was so worth the trip!
