Visited this beach with some friends this past summer. We took the commuter rail (about a 40-50min ride from downtown Boston) and then walked to the beach (15min or so). The beach itself is really nice - clean and not too crowded. Nice bathroom facilities and I think I remember there being a shop to purchase ice cream or snacks. If you wanna grab a bite to eat there are some cute little restaurants in the area and next to the train stop.

Residents of Manchester-by-the-Sea are very fortunate to have such a terrific public beach. Singing Beach is one of the most beautiful locations on the Boston's North Shore. The beach is easily accessible by road and comutter rail (Rockport line). Parking is available most times at the nearby public lot, free all days to residents, and for a fee to visitors with some restrictions. Check the town web site for details. Water temperatures during the summer months run fro the mid 60's to low 70's. There is an excellent concession stand serving light foods, snacks and drinks. The beach is free to all residents and available for a small fee to visitors.

We have been here several times and it is one of our favorite beaches near Boston (about a 40 min drive north from downtown). It is true that there is resident parking only next to the beach. Parking is available next to the commuter rail station about 0.6 miles away for $25 per day. If you arrive super early, you might be lucky to get one of the few free parking spots at Masconomo Park. The long walk seems to keep a lot of people from coming, so that the beach is never too crowded. We usually use the drop-off spot next to the beach to drop off our stuff, so that only one of us has to walk the 0.6 miles. The view on the beach is beautiful. There is also a little kiosk where you can buy sandwiches and soft drinks.

Gorgeous, sunny October Day with lots of dogs playing on the beach. Super friendly and helpful locals...no pay parking. What more could you ask for...a lovely couple of hours on a lovely beach in a beautiful Massachusetts town.

The slog for this town ought to be Stay Away - We're Xenophobic. We have never experienced such unfriendly and rude people.. We were visiting friends on cape ann from California and were amazed at how friendly people were UNTIL we reached Manchester by the Sea. What a pretentious load of garbage. We tried to ask directions and people were outright rude. We then tried to go to this beach only to be told that ONLY Residents could park.In CA beaches are open to all people and dogs. Not in this place. September - all the other towns open their beaches. What's up with these people!

Very beautiful beach. Nice and sandy, clean bathrooms and food service (in season), beautiful view. Not really a large beach but the access difficulties keep the crowd down. Nice place to swim, the undertow isn't bad and the water warmish in summer. Consider going before Memorial day or after Labor Day. Absolutely spiffy on sunny days. If you want to be alone, or nearly so, turn right (South) and walk down to the end. Local girls take their tops off down there but the guards do patrol though they just tell you to get dressed. Bring your own food and water tho they do sell stuff.I have a few parking suggestions. Remember to bring money with you to the beach, it is $5 to walk on. First suggestion, go Monday thru Thursday and pay the $25 to park at the beach if you really mind the walk. Second, park at the Beverly Farms or Prides Crossing train stations (free) and ride the train (maybe four bucks) for five minutes to Manchester then walk for ten minutes. The train is kind of fun. Kids like it just for a lark. Third, the best bet, bring a bicycle and park all day for free at the little league ball field about a 1/2 mile North of the grocery store/train station intersection. All you need is one bike for the car driver, just drop everyone else at the beach. Fourth, drop your people and gear at the beach and have one person take the walk from the ball field. It might be 1 1/2 miles. Check out the shortest route in your car first. Don't walk down to the train station from the ball field. Take a left opposite the cemetery, cross the tracks and work your way to the beach. The homes there are beautiful estates. It's a nice walk.

Very clean and nice off the beaten track beach at the end of Beach Street in Manchester. Locals and out of towners who want to go to the beach come here as this is the closest to get to. Out of towners need to travel here by rail as there is no parking available. Lots of available eating and supermarket on the way to beach in case you need or forgot your sunscreen!

This is a lovely beach. I see so many reviewers complaining about the lack of parking, but that's what makes the beach so relatively uncrowded. You can take the commuter rail from North Station and it's a frankly gorgeous 10-minute walk past Manchester Harbor and up a slight incline to the beach itself. Or just pay the $25 to park in the lot next to the train station and take the same walk. The sand is pristine and the water is clean and clear. Walk down the crescent towards the right and you'll find yourself with plenty of room to spread out a towel or put down a chair, with no blanket-to-blanket sprawl like you'd see at Wingaersheek. Behind you are a series of beautiful classic North Shore homes on large plots of land, adding to the quaint, peaceful vibe that this gem of a beach has to offer. Every time I spend the day here I find myself marveling at just how beautiful and accessible Singing Beach is, especially for Boston dwellers like myself. If you want easy free parking and two steps to the beach, there is always Revere - which is itself a much nicer place than legend would have it. But when I want the full North Shore beach experience, it's got to be Singing.

We came midweek so were able to park 15 minutes away from the beach and just had to pay the 5 dollars.I can see why the locals want it less crowded and why not? Hence the hefty parking fees.We had a great day although the changing facilities were basic and one big down side for me were the pesky and aggressive seagulls making off with packed lunches.

We visited singing beach on a Sunday in August. Parking for non-residents is 25 bucks Monday- Thursday. Friday-Sunday, they do not provide parking for non-residents so you have to park a good distance away and walk. We parked at an elementary school and walked about a mile. Once you reach the beach, shell out 5 bucks per person to enter the beach. The beach is nice but not very long. Very scenic views and the water temp was 60 degrees, not too bad. I only gave this trip a 3 because there are many other nice beaches along the north shore and New Hampshire that are more beautiful, easy to get to and welcome you with open arms. I felt that singing beach is more accommodating to the local residents and seems like they want to discourage non-residents from coming to enjoy the beach by making it painful to park and charging for access. I'm glad we visited but we won't be back.

Nice beach but no parking unless your a resident on the weekends That seems not fair. You have to pay $25 and walk about a mile to get to the beach.

Scenic beach, nice sand, good waves, snack bar. $25 to park weekdays as a non-resident, but worth it.

Visited this beautiful beach on Friday 18th July, it has a great setting, and was quiet with plenty of room for everyone. However the parking situation is diabolical! You can only park near the beach if you are a resident and no where in the town offers parking longer than two hours. I dropped my family off and they walked in $5 per person and then I went in search of parking, three laps of the town and no pay all day parking. So I parked for two hours walked to the beach, then left after one hour fifty, and moved the car, this I repeated, at suitable intervals. I think it might be better to visit during the week Monday to Thursday to avoid this ridiculous problem. A sign telling visitors to stay away would do the same as having no acceptable parking available. Not a destination for tourists, they don't make you feel welcome.

I take the train from North Station a couple of times a year. It takes 50 minutes each way and another 12 to walk to the beach from the train. Its about $18 round trip on the train and another $5 to walk onto the beach if you're not a resident. The guys and girls who work the entry point are a bunch of brats but what do you expect from teens in a wealthy town. The beach itself is one of the best in New England and I've probably been to about %6 of them. Nice crescent shape, nice clean sand and cold but clean and clear water. There is a pleasant walk and benches on the small cliff above the beach. Large, nice houses sit on its edge as well. There is a rather clean looking chaning station and a food stall with decent options. Out in the water there are some nice looking rocky islands. If you walk to the extreme right end of the beach there are some attractive rocks that lend a blue Adriatic hue to the water. The crowd ranges from annoying but harmless teens to elderly people. And considering how white the town is there is actually a bit of diversity. Its generally a pretty mild crowd as the size of the beach doesn't lend itself to volleyball etc.The train may come infrequently on weekends but there are some nice bars near the station to kill some time.

Great New England Beach! Small compared to so e others, but the sand is great, waves are small allowing for kids to play, lifeguards are on duty and there are great beach houses to grab water or a bathroom break. Definitely worth the trip.
