Great view of boats going in at out of harbor and lighthouse as well as Boston on the horizon. You may run into a groundhog there.
This is a place were a visit to sit down and stare at the ocean in many different directions. It is peaceful , tranquil and a great place to contemplate.
Great ocean breeze and fabulous concers and events. Annual Arts Festival site and cool for 4th July fireworks
Has a nice area to walk around and sit on a bench and take in the view from a 360 degree view. Plenty of interesting forts there to look at a plenty of room for the kids and dogs to run around.
I would have liked to have spent more time here, but we had just finished dinner, and stopped here for the view and a bit of walk...in the rain, in the dark.... was beautiful even then with the waves crashing on the rocks and the lights across the way....can't wait to go back!!!
The view was very nice. A small but accessible park with a few benches. A great 270 degree view of the water that was just outstanding. The fort itself was very neat to see.
Needs to be restored - interesting and would be well worth it! More info about the place on site would be great.
I enjoy finding the old forts and anything historical so I thought this was a cool spot ... Got some great photos.... To bad you can't get inside though .... If you're a history buff check it out!! .....
Not large, but an interesting place to visit, with an historical perspective and a beautiful spot to sit and look at the bay
Marblehead is one of five places that lay claim to being the birth place of the Navy. Fort Sewall, formerly an armed fort owned by the United States and used to defend against British invaders, is now a beautiful park in Marblehead with magnificent views of the Harbor.
Fort Sewall is history--and to stand and watch the sun rise over the ocean was spectacular. A quiet walk, a place to sit, to think about the early history of our country, to watch the joggers and walkers or to chat with a local--great site.
Great story. Check it out when you get there. The fort protected the USS Constitution from the British fleet. Old Ironsides still returns to Marblehead on it's mandatory voyages.
This fort & rocky beach around the corner were frequent walk sites when we vacationed on Marblehead for a week in late August. The views are beautiful & ever changing with high & low tides. Just as importantly, the locals that live in Marblehead & come to the sea wall to see sun rise & set or just let their kids play on the beach are warm & welcoming. Our first evening, we walked by a lady watching the sea twice & stopped to enjoy the view on the 2nd pass. She was so welcoming & told us about the history of the town, sites to visit & the tides. The following day, we went back at low tide to be on the rocky beach - it was a treasure trove of little crabs, fish, etc. While water shoes are definately needed, it was a great day. Some families that live locally were they were so helpful with pizza recommendation & other suggestions. Our kides had a blast searching for crabs, scrambling over the rocks & chatting.Fabulous area!
Very nice park with amazing history....you can see into the kitchen of the old fort....wish you could see the dungeon! Nice benches around to sit and watch the boats & water!
This is a great place to wake up to. I would recommend coming here very early in the morning to watch the sun rise! Don't forget to bring your camera (and tripod)!
