As a kid I grew up in Mattapoisette in the Summers and had so much fun walking down Neds point Rd and visiting friends along the way to the light house. It's still the same and is as beautiful as ever. We used to climb on the rocks and play tag and do scavenger hunts. Man those were the good ol days.
Charming little spot for a picnic, watch the boats go by, fly a kite or play Frisbee. Usually not very crowded, not much traffic. Park your car and take a walk or a bike ride around the seaside neighborhood. If your in the area it's definitely worth the trip but I wouldn't drive an hour or more just to come here as it is a very small area. Great view of the harbor and can often see wind surfers.
Quiet, pretty, worth a stop. Bring your cup of coffee, sit and listen to the wind and seagulls. Came in the morning on a cool September morn.
As a Mattapoisett resident, I am proud to see that Ned's Point is enjoyed by lots of folks from surrounding communities. With a great ocean view and several picnic areas, Ned's Point is a great, no-cost place for families to enjoy the ocean and relax
We found this place by accident a couple of years ago. We saw the lighthouse from another beach and followed coastal roads around looking for it. What a nice surprise when we found it. This park has plenty of tables and even a covered area to get out of the sun. While they don't sell food, the ice cream truck does drive through. It is also not that far from Oxford Creamery so you can go there to get something to bring back to the beach. The lighthouse is beautiful and the views are amazing. It is such a relaxing place and very quiet. This is our second year visiting but we go during the week and it wasn't very crowded which was nice. We have only gone for a picnic but next year we plan to go for the whole day. Worth the trip.
waterfront park with a view of the harbor and buzzards bay, just south of the town wharves, it was a ghost town when we visited.
Beautiful view, great place to talk with old friends, relax and remember.. the old days. It had not changed..we are able to touch our youth there...lighthouse, beautiful harbor, islands in distance, boat watching, sunning, picnicking and so far no charge to enjoy it all. A must for people who love the true New England.
A beautiful piece of local history. There is an historic marker that marks the site and gives some interesting facts about the area.
Ned's Point Lighthouse and Veterans Park is a small public space with a tiny beach frequented by sail boarders…heavily populated in the summer and weekends it is very crowded. Historic location. No food service at this location.
Ned's Point pokes into Buzzard's Bay, and would be worth a visit for the view alone. It's major attraction is steady wind that attracts wind-surfers from all over. There is an ample parking lot.
Ned's Point is a good place to bring the family. Many people bring a picnic with them and spend the day. There is a small beach for people to go swimming, windsurfing, and kayaking. There is a grassy area for families to enjoy flying kites, frisbee or toss a ball with the little ones. Many people fish off the rocks or lay on them to relax and unwind. Many RV's stop in and spend the day. Also available are restrooms and an outdoor shower. The most beautiful part are the sunsets behind the lighthouse and as the sun sets the beacon comes on. I love that. It is also a nice spot for a wedding. Ned's Point in Mattapoisett is a little slice of heaven.
Our favorite spot for a picnic lunch date---and now we take our son along. He loves flying his kite in the grass near the lighthouse!
I'm biased because I grew up walking to Ned's Point but now only make it here once or twice a year. The views of buzzard's bay as well as Mattapoisett harbor are nice and tranquil. Great place for a picnic and there's also a small area for launching kayaks and sailboards.
Beautiful vistas of the sea and a lovely harbor. Scenic, un crowded picturesque and unspoiled, this spot is a perfect slice of New England.
Ned's Point is always quiet enough to enjoy a visit. We take the kids to the open space to run around and take pictures. I often see windsurfers take off from there.
