We loved it here! You can get all our typical movie theater food+ and see two movies. Price is great for a carload of people. A lot of people tailgate but I would recommend some bug spray then!
The snack bar is great. Love the choice of 2 drive-ins. However when just one person comes to see the movies, the price is always very expensive, especially for Seniors, There is no Senior discount available!
Went here when I was young and it was just one screen...had dates here, went with friends, went here with my husband, went here with our children, and now my children take their children here. I know friends from near and far who have multiple visits here yearly...of course it is seasonal, but the drive in stays open into late fall. Two giant screens each simultaneously running double features of movies currently in theaters. Prices are reasonable...love the old fashioned snack bar reminiscent of the 1950s with the pink classic retro car protruding from the roof area. There is a kids playground too! Much more than a step back in time...it's a giant slice of Americana at its finest...still in existence and still so much fun.
Great place. But the kids that go don't go to watch the movie so it's very noisy and distracting, but kids will be kids. It's kept really clean and in order. Bathrooms are clean. Typical food.
Nostalgia, great events, good sound, central location, good price, two screens, good variety of movies,etc...
It was fun going to a drive in. The price is $25, but you do get 2 movies for that price so it's worth it. The food is overpriced for the small portions you get, but I guess that's all theaters. Definitely worth a visit, and bring your own snacks!
I absolutely love it here. I love coming here with my family and family friends. Love how there is space between the cars, lots of space to throw a frisbee or something. Food here is flawless. Great night out!
My wife and i and our dog Dolly go here once or twice a month friendly staff great food and junk food .....lol the brothers have done a great job with adding new things to the drive-in bathrooms r clean we love it here great place to relax and watch a couple movies great job Andelman brothers and staff oh and i watch your show every sunday after the three stooges....... :)
The drive-in itself was good. The movies were in HD, clear and great! Although, during the 2nd movie they interrupted to let you know the concession stand was closing while the movie was still playing so you couldn't hear what was going on. I wasn't too thrilled about that. The drive-in is owned by the two Phantom Gourmet critics. I was expecting the food to be really good considering they own the drive-in but I could've cared less for the food! I usually bring my own food and would definitely bring my own if I ever go back there again. The bathroom facilities were clean! The price to get in is reasonable - $25/carload. The food was even reasonably priced. I got fried pickles and sausage and my boyfriend got chili and the burrito and it came out to $23ish. Definitely not bad but I did not like either of my meals. My boyfriend said his were alright but that we should bring our own food next time.
Get there at opening time - Sometimes there's a line to get in and sometimes there's not. You will have plenty of time to set up, the kids can run around and play and you can eat; plus you can get the best spots for the movie. Bring outdoor toys for your kids to play with.Food is reasonably priced, go on-line to view the menu, or just bring your own (that's always cheaper).Bring bug spray. You can also open up the back of your SUV and the kids can lay down in the back. I recommend if you can (not a big deal) bring mosquito netting for your hatch. Pack plenty of blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and chairs. You can also pack the kids a sweat shirt, pants and pajamas, there are plenty of people walking around in them.It is $25.00 a car load. There is an area (Beer Garden) to get beer and sangria but you have to drink it there you can't bring them back to your car. There are 2 screens that each show 2 movies. There is a sign as you enter saying "no screen switching" but people do.
Considering it's not cheap to go here, they do have a lot to offer. The food is really quite good. Awesome chili cheese fries and popcorn! The turn off is that at the end of the two movies, quite a few people had dead batteries, myself included.
Pros:We enjoyed the quiet and dark of the placeSelf-organized parking for the carsSafe entertainment spaceVisitors were considerate of others and ensured to keep the car lights turned offNice audio qualityOne gets to enjoy the privacy in the car and at the same time get the feel of a social movie watching experience.Loved the pop-corn chicken$25 for a car. $5 extra for each extra person.Cons:Bathrooms were a little crowded
Me and my husband use to come here when we were dating..We think it was way better before. We were there last weekend and I was very excited to get a foot long hotdog from the bar. Waited 15 min to order then they said they dont have fries there so I had to go to the other building to get fries. I went there the line was outstanding.By the time I get the fries (THAT WAS 25 MIN WAIT) and get back to the car, hotdog was cold..So for a hot dog and a cup of fries I have waited 40 min and had to eat them cold. After the 1st movie we wanted to see the other movie on the 2nd screen (which you were allowed to do it before) and the kid infront of the 2nd screen door said we cant do that during the weekends??So we could have left the car where ever it was and walked there and watched it anyways..How does that make any sense? We didnt want to deal with it and left.. We drove an hour and a half for the Mendon drive in experience to have fun but our experience was a disappointment..
Can't think of anything that could have been added to the experience. We stayed in Boston and hired a car specifically to come here - great food, atmosphere etc.Would have been nice to have a beer in the car, but you can only drink in the "beer garden", which really is a small point. On a balmy night this is still a great American experience, done really well here at Mendon.
New owners just acquired the place this March and are working at making it a great night out. There is a new beer garden which is a nice touch. FM radio rather than speakers. The food selection is large. I had the Supreme Nachos, my wife the Popcorn Chicken. The Nachos were just OK. Had them hold the sour cream, so it was just chips with taco meat and cheese in a side pocket. For this style of Nachos having cheese in the side dipping space makes NO sense. You can not dip taco meat covered chips effectively. These Nachos could have been a Home Run if it included just a little salsa along with the meat with the cheese then drizzled over the top of the whole thing. The popcorn chicken was very tasty and there were a few selections of sauces options. The Sausage Man was there in the Beer Garden offering up his fare. For service, there was a big back up at the beer garden but the owner saw it quickly and opened a second register and that took care of that fast. Howeverthe food service is very unorganized the food comes out an pieces. One item here, then another there. When you place an order, you don't want to be standing around holding half your order while it gets cold.It would not take much training to improve the timing of the food better so you get it all at once. The Nachos came out very quickly, but we had to wait on the chicken. So the Nachos were getting cold. Makes more sense to put the Nacos together last when the chicken is ready. Growing pains I guess. The screens are good and big. The yard is a mix of grass and dirt. Hopefully their next capital improvement before next season will be the lot.It is one of the few places you can take a large group of kids where the grown ups can enjoy themselves too. Reminded me of all that fun we had as kids at the Kingston and Braintree Drive-Ins.
