bear's den

I climbed the heights of bears den ages ago. But, still remains a lovely view of the entire area at the top. The only suggestion as this is "bears den" no, you most likely won't see a bear. Be sure and talk loud or bang sticks while hiking on trails. Better they hear you and leave before you see them than vice versa. But, what do I know. Stay safe.

Easy or medium hiking, easy to bring young ones too a small water falls and hiking area. Large cliffs surround you that make you feel like your in the middle of nowhere.

nice drive, kinda hard to spot, great place to take a dip on the hottest day of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

was at the garlic festival and was curious where the roads nearby would take me. happened upon bear's den. the area is small but beautiful to see.

It's very accessable. Not overcrowded. Great rocks and roots for mountain biking. Central Mass nature at it's best.

One of our "waterfall hunting" adventures with our daughter. This display is a wider falls that can be seen from a couple fo different angles - the side, in front, and above. Further hiking takes you along the river that feeds the waterfall - but we lost the trail fairly easilly. We hope to head back in better weather for a dip!We went on to the overlook of the Quabbin from the center of New Salem that can be reached by going through the campus of a former school - a spectacular view.
