这里不大,尤其还很靠近三一,显得很不出众。但是规律的祷告生活,显得这才是普通平凡的教堂,不是参观景点,更是生活公共地。这和我去公园是一个感觉,我觉得挺好挺平易近人的。
The Old North Church is on the Freedom Trail and you really can't miss it, if you have any interest in history. It's the place where the famed Paul Revere lanterns were hung. It's still an active church. Although there is no admission, expect to pay a small donation per person. If you come from the front, make sure to go to the back of the church when you exit, to enjoy the beautiful courtyard, and the walk down the cobblestone paths, which take you right out in the middle of the historic North End, Boston's "Little Italy" (which happens to be close to Mike's Pastry AND the Paul Revere House).
The people that have been in this church and the preservation is amazing, literally feels like you are stepping back in time.
one by land, if two by sea... Great history. I've never seen a chuch with "box seats". That in itself is something to see...
One if by land, two if by sea. Coming here was a step back over two hundred years. It is just stunning. So, why four stars? The day I was there, in the cold winter, the tours were cancelled and the crypt walk was cancelled as well. That said, a great place to visit
This is run by a non profit organization and you can feel the love for this cherished neighborhood and Boston landmark. The docents are lovely and the history in this building is truly incredible this is not to be missed.
One if by land, two if by sea, wrote Emerson. The well-explained church and its history and legends put you right in the heart of history. And it's just a short walk to the famed Copp's Hill Burial Ground whose headstones served as target practice for British troops across the bay in Charlestown. Refresh yourself with the homemade pastries and authentic Italian food that the North End is known for.
Walking in the foot steps and getting the explanation of how the ride of Paul Revere was begun, proceeded, and ultimately ended. The explanation of how the new Interstate Highway and removal of the blighted interstate was accomplished. The history of Boston, is very interesting. Well worth the visit.
It is a rare privilege to worship in a venue that has such an important place in our country's history, where the lanterns were hung to alert the colonists that the British were coming. One can even sit in named pews, in our case, that of British general Gage. The silver used for Communion were gifts to the church from King George II of England in 1733. This rich history combines with a vibrant community-based congregation that welcomes hundreds of tourist visitors each year. And the music is excellent and inspiring.
And that is how Paul Riviere got his signal and...the rest is in the history books.Small church but very interesting in addition to eavesdropping local guides stories.Revere statue sometimes dressed in Red Sox uniforms.Problem with the toilets though, unless friendly staff at nearby fire station let you use WC. Gosh, give them an opportunity to check out the girls.
The history and architecture alone are worth visiting this site - on the Freedom trail and open to view at your own pace. Be aware that many sites in Boston have short hours, open late and close early.
I have brought 8th graders to The Old North Church for the last four years, and they say it is one of their favorite stops on the Freedom Trail. Go into the bell tower! And learn about the amazing bells housed there.
Great piece of historic Boston. Nice visit to make to see how some of the colonial habits took hold in church setting as far as reserved boxes and locations within the church. Fantastic building.
Low key and free (donation appreciated). Hey, if Paul Revere and the gang were here, it's worth the trip.
I would definitely visit this church again, maybe next time, during services that are still held there.
