One of the most beautiful bike paths ever. Stop and take a dunk in the ocean if you get hot. Grab a cone in Woods Hole. Bike home past the Vineyard and the "shining" sea( it really does shine.

For the adventurous spirit in all of us begin in North Falmouth and ride your bike through a working farm near Bourne, through gentle rises and beautiful vistas in W Falmouth viewing bogs nd marshes opening up the the Vineyard sound and continue through Falmouth to WoodsHole viewing beaches, hills, trails,& bikeway benches if you tire. R/T is a challenging 13 plus mile adventure. When in WoodsHole - QuicksHole open bar and their Taverna is a GREAT stop for the family, and when you return to No. Falmouth you HAVE to stop at Holy Cow Ice Cream...Homemade while you watch waffle cones in 4-5 flavors......yum, but only after exercise.

From the Village of North Falmouth to the Village of Woods Hole, site of the Woods Hole Steamship Authority, the Shining Sea Bike Path is a beautiful paved journey through the salt ponds, woodlands and passes by the ocean. Built for bicyclists, it’s a great walk too.

This bikepath has meant so much to locals and Tourists alike. It is flat, has parking and the end result of the WoodsHole village is perfect for lunch or an ice cream.

The Shining Sea Bikeway is a great escape whether you are jogging, biking, or walking with or without your dog.Griffin my Siberian loves going there and he knows when we are getting close.There are multiple entrances and places to park.I usually go to the Trunk River entrance where there is ample parking overlooking the beach where Martha's Vineyard is in clear view (except on foggy days).

This bike path is beautiful. It has many points that you can start/ stop so you can ride for as long as you want. It goes along the beautiful beaches and into Woods Hole. At times it is crowded with walkers, but not too bad. Give it a try, you'll love it!

Bikeway is an excellent place to walk, bike, exercise your dog on leash. You can go miles all the way into Woodshole, MA

Loved that we could stop, jump in the ocean and then continue on bikes...try Pie in the Sky at the end of the path...delicious!

You will enjoy the bike path taking you through Falmouth and to Woods Hole. You could then take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Check it out..........and enjoy the day

Shining Sea Bike Path was where I take a walk, bike and mostly jog. It is where I feel safe away from the vehicles running. It's a narrow bike path passing by breath taking beaches. Very beautiful place.. A place I won't forget.

Love this path. It has everything- including a start/end point in lovely Wood's Hole. The ocean views are spectacular. And the people I have encountered are very nice!

Loved the commune with nature as you ride in a dedicated path.I was totally immersed and forgot how much time or how little time I had left on my bike rental.

The Shining Sea Bikeway is really great. You can hope on and head towards Woods Hole for lunch, stopping along the way at a beach, or head north towards Old Silver and stop for lunch in West Falmouth and then to one of the beaches accessible from the bike path.

I live adjacent to the bike-path so I get to enjoy it daily The Shining Sea bike path, in its current configuration, is only about five years old. It extends about 11 miles from North Falmouth to Woods Hole. It traverses the Cranberry Bogs and Bourne Farm to the north at about miles 8 and 9 and continues south opening up to beautiful saltwater marshlands and ponds. Along the route, you can hit any number of picturesque warm water beaches in the summer, Chapoquoit and Black's in West Falmouth, Woodneck in Sippiwisset a few miles south of Chappy Beach and Stony Beach in Woods ole another 6-7 miles further south. As you move from north to south not far off the bikepath, there are many places to grab a cold drink or ice cream, Eulinda's and the West Falmouth Maket at about mile 7, just North of the bikepath. A few miles further south brings you to the hustle and bustle of Main Street Falmouth which is dotted with all manner of restaurants and shops. Traveling still south the bike path opens up to broad views of the Atlantic Ocean and Martha's Vineyard Island until it ends in the funky enclave known as Woods Hole, a destination point for those heading to the island. Woods Hole contains many interesting and hip shops and restaurant and Pie in the Sky is a breakfast paradise. Coffee Obsession will cause you to forget any warm feeling towards Dunkin Donuts or Starbuck.There are many places along the bike-path which offer free parking and for the truly adventurous, it is simple enough to grab a parking space, hop on your bikes and grab a ferry ride to the Vineyard for ever more biking adventures. Every summer, my wife and I hop in the bikepath in West Falmouth, ride down to Woods Hole and jump on the ferry to the Vineyard. Once we get to the Vineyard, we cruise on our bikes along the State Beach Road to Edgartown and onto the Chappy Ferry. Bike riding on Chappy Island is picturesque and challenging, very hllly but the beaches are worth the output. You will encounter expansive stretches of beach with that are nearly empty. While the bikepath is enjoyable year round, for my money, fall is best of all. Late October and early November offers amazing fall foliage, bright yellows and reds along tree lined route.. Weekdays are preferable to weekends in the Summer because over the past few years, as its popularity has grown, the bikepath gets more crowded, especially around mid-day.
