I went here in February 2015 with freezing temperatures. It was worth it. The scenery and waves were something to behold. I watched surfers with wet suits. I also had a chance to talk to them as they came out of the water. This is a long beach. I enjoy summer walks when I visit. Winter just gives you a different perspective. Go and enjoy.

Fifty years ago thousands of acres were set aside to be free from further development, so outer Cape Cod offers miles of natural beaches, woodlands, hiking and bike trails. Two visitor centers offer programs, attractions, lectures, etc. The area offers superb beaches...ocean, bay and pond and wonderful scenery.

In addition to the beach, there is also a visitor's center with lots of information on the beach, the area in general and local goings on. In the summer ranger tours are available. Lots of hiking tours are also available. It is a nice way to spend the day. Note - dogs are not allowed off lease at the National Seashore.It costs to park at Coast Guard Beach and Nauset. Free shuttle available from Nauset High School Parking lot.

We spent 2 nights camping on the Cape that was just fabulous. The campground was very nice and the scenery and atmosphere was so relaxing and beautiful. This stop was between Boston and NYC on our east coast swing last May. Perfect place to just hang out, build a nice fire and relax.

I went to the National Seashore in December and it was awesome. Luckily the weather was in the mid 40s (7c) with no wind. It was cloudy but spectacular, I was the only one on the beaches and was making my own tracks. Very peaceful and I loved the solitude! The sound of the waves and the fresh air was glorious. Stop at the Salt Pond visitor center and talk to the staff. They were AWESOME on telling me where to go based on what I wanted to do. I would recommend Coast Guard Beach (the one managed by the NPS) and the beach at Race Point to get two different types of experiences. Race Point has the big dunes and Coast Guard is flat and goes along the hill.

The pilgrims may have been the first Europeans to sight this jewel of the Atlantic coast, but here we are revelling in the same topography, of pristine beaches, dunes and wildlife. Beach-front properties are at such a premium, so as to preclude even dreaming about it. What with most of the US coastline devoured by cities, hotels and beach resorts, finding this stretch of virgin coast is like finding gold We found along this 64 km stretch, the whitest sand beaches, heath land, high dunes, pinewoods, fresh water ponds and marshes. I am not surprised that this "stretch" from Chatham to Provincetown induces Bostonians to a migratory stop in Summer. Starting at Provincetown Heritage Museum, this edifice towers over the picturesque waterfront of cape Cod's main fishing port and tourist resort, we ambled along the beaches that line the sheltered harbour. The lighthouses give a calm reassurance, as do the lobster trap buoys hanging on walls, like a colourful symbol of the peninsula's fishing heritage. Provincetown is not only a sanctuary, a haven from city life, but also a bustling commercial hub home to artists and tourists, a jarring contrast to the peaceful scenery of the coastline. We recaptured this serenity at the tip of the cape, at Racepoint and Herring Cove beaches with its lighthouse nestled in the dunes. Its amazing that the lower cape is very narrow in places, so one can easily go from pounding surf on the Atlantic side to calm shallow waters of Westside Bay. We hired bikes to explore the woodlands, dunes and marshlands, as well as the lakes. My favourite trail is the superb Cape Cod Rail Trail, a paved path that runs for 40 km along the former train track used avidly by skaters, pedestrians and cyclists. Scenic spur- trails run from Eastham to Wellfleet where art, coffee and great food intersect in harmony with the swell.

This is the place to go in New England during 3 seasons! Something for nearly everyone; history, activities, eateries, scenery, clean, life-guarded beaches with now-protected sand dunes, bike trails, hiking, artist colonies and shows, community theater performances, bird sanctuary, a broad variety of lodging alternatives, fishing, seal-watching, boating, and touring historic locations. Traffic during the prime summer months can be frustrating but manageable and prices can be off-putting. But Cape Cod is special, accessible, and worth the trip!

Drove from Providence, RI, to Provincetown at the farthest, northern tip of Cape Cod and return in one day attempting to take in all the historic locations. A very pleasant drive through interesting countryside. At Provincetown the bird-watching was excellent. Had a good look around Hyennis Port and the surrounding area. One of those Everest sort of days!

This is a very beautiful place, but apparently we need more signs to help us appreciate it. Control, control. Whatever happened to letting people enjoy.

The beach clean and goes for miles. My wife and I love it. A good place to spend a few hours and enjoy nature. We will come back and recommend.

Our tour of the dunes was a highlight of our time on Cape Cod! We hadn't planned on fitting this in, but it was too cold to kayak, and I'm so glad we got to experience this one of a kind area.

Having been in and around Boston, I had the opportunity to visit Cape Cod. Driving to the Cape was breathtaking, stopping at a lighthouse, and going down onto the beach, which incidently was a long way down at this point! Once we arrived at the Cape the first thing that struck me was the different coloured wooden houses. I would thoroughly recommend having fish & chips, the breadcrumbed coating on the fish was the best I have tasted. It is such a beautiful place, well worth the journey!!

We went to Marconi portion of the National Seashore and were blown away by the views. The sand cliffs are incredible and the ocean seems to just go for miles. We saw many seals in the shallow water and a variety of sea birds.
