First time visit to Maryland this was a pretty elegant Sight for Soar eyes. It is amazing how much history there is in this small Lil Ol town!

We took six upper-elementary school aged kids to the Harriet Tubman museum and were very impressed. There were many examples of things from Harriet's life and words she spoke and wrote. We also watched a short video that the kids were very interested in. It was both informative and captured their attentions well. The museum is not very big, but I thought it well worth the effort to find in Cambridge. Their is no fee to enter, although you can give donations to help the museum expand.

This seems to be a work in progress but we wanted to visit it as part of the Harriet Tubman Trail. A DVD was shown, which made the visit worth while. We tried to visit all of the sites on the trail, but we gave up on a few. We did not have GPS and the directions given were not all clear, nor was the map always helpful. Nevertheless, the sites we did find were worth the struggle to find them. We listened to the accompanying CD for most of the drive, but it did not always seem to fit in with what we were looking at. It seems that just a few more sign posts, or even a better link between the printed guide and the CD would improve the experience! Nevertheless, we learned a lot.

This small museum has a lot of information about the Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad. It's not fancy, but it's worth the 20-30 minutes it takes to go through it. The volunteers were happy to talk to us about any questions we had.

They don't open on time. All the surrounding shops told us so and I'm standing outside waiting. No pride or respect. They should feel lucky to work/volunteer here on the behalf of such an important woman. Don't bother coming it won't be open.

Not a huge museum, but the volunteer on duty Saturday afternoon was very gracious, earnest and helpful. They have lots of literature and videos for kids and a terrific map and guide for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway driving tour. It's now on our list of destinations for future trips.

A nice museum, nestled into downtown Cambridge, has a fairly comprehensive history of Harriet Tubman. The video that was playing was a little too repetitive, with different historians saying the same thing over and over, but it is definitely worth a 30 minute drop-by when you are strolling through town.

Harriet Tubman was the most famous "conductor" on the Underground Railroad, the name given to the process of moving escaped slaves northward during the nineteenth century. This museum is very small but quite interesting. The building located in downtown Cambridge, MD is a bit difficult to find but worth the search. In addition to the permanent walls of displays, a video is available upon request and well worth viewing.

This place is easy to miss.......it is nestled in downtown Cambridge with a wide array of images, videos, artifacts, and "storytellers". During our visit, the array of ages, ethnicities were vast albeit the size of the crowd was low in numbers each person there seemed to be gleaning insight at different stations in this museum. There isn't a fee to view the artifcats but supported the space with a donation/purchase.To see firsthand all of the effort Ms. Tubman underwent time and time again, was remarkable.If in this region, I would advise you to go and take a younger person to enable them to SEE and understand more fully of the progression America has undertaken. If at all possible, pack a little extra time to watch the 20+min video(s).

This is cute little museum tribute to Harriet Tubman. I really liked seeing the pictures of Harriet Tubman at different ages. However, it is so small that it is almost hard to call it a museum. It is a little more than a wall, but I loved the opportunity and effort. It is still a good place to stop if you are walking around in Cambridge or your way to someplace else.

The museum in located in downtown Cambridge, MD. There is plenty of free parking and many shops to browse. This nice museum covers the life of Harriet Tubman, a Conductor of the underground railroad. The information, pictures and artifacts provides a fantastic view into the life and accomplishments of Mrs. Tubman. For me it was a true history lesson.

Very nice lesson in history. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable. They even went "that extra mile" and put on a short children's video for my daughter so that she could experience a little history as well.

So much information and artifacts in a small space. The staff are warm and friendly. The DVD we watched told about Harriet's life and there was so much more than just the Underground Railroad! A new structure will be built near Blackwater, but this museum will remain in Cambridge

Checking out our new surroundings after recently moving to Delmarva, we decided to take a short trip of less than an hour to Cambridge, MD. The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce was holding a special event to get people to visit the old town by the Chesapeake on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The town has been through some tough times, but is making a real effort to revitalize. We started out with a stop at the visitor center on the banks of the Chesapeake. It is lovely and well furnished with colorful displays, good information and a pleasant staff. Downtown, the stores are along an old main street paved with brick. Some of them have been fixed up, and the town may soon become more attractive to visitors. We found a man outside one shop shucking oysters for visitors - no charge! Very nice! A couple other shops we visited were also staffed by very friendly and helpful persons. Many others were still in progress, or we skipped them due to time restraints.We saw one store front that had a sign announcing it to be the home of the Harriet Tubman Museum and Education Center. Being a history buff, I had to check this out! I was very impressed with the sincerity of the two people staffing the tiny rooms that consisted of the museum. Obviously, on a shoestring budget, they did their very best job of telling the story of this very courageous slave woman who gained her freedom and then proceeded to establish the "underground railroad" and personally usher others to freedom! Through all kinds of difficult circumstances, including danger of personal harm or death, bad weather, rough, primitive travel methods, darkness of night, as well as the difficult task of overcoming the fear of those less courageous souls who had to rely on her for their own strength to go on, Harriet Tubman persevered and delivered! The small slide show / movie is by no means the newest technology, nor is it set up in a modern little theatre, but the story is uplifting and happens to be one of the most important stories of an ordinary person coming to the aid of others, and in the process helping to reshape our nation's whole cultural history! Very worthwhile! I hope they get some funding to help them continue the good work and improve the museum and the town of Cambridge!

We arrived in Cambridge at just the right time - around noon. After visiting the Visitor's Center, the museum was our first stop. We met Bro. Roy who shared trivia and encouraged our exploration. He was one of several wonderful encounters during our day visit which ended some eight hours later. I had visited some 10-15 years earlier. The intimacy and joy of offering history to the public continues - a great introduction to Cambridge. Would have loved to have viewed the film but we were anxious to explore the country side.
