garrett county historical museum

The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable. There were so many amazing rooms to see. This museum not only showcased Garret county but many other things of days gone by.

The museum is a wonderful collection of history of Garrett County. It is free to visitors and has many themed rooms filled with information and memorabilia for each theme. Many items were available to pick up and touch and read. It was delightful and we enjoyed our visit.

Loved this museum. loved how nice the staff were and just exciting to see how garrett county was in its hay day...loved it.

What a wonderful treasure of information about the area! I've passed it by so many times, but this last week we stopped in with some folks who were visiting with us. I was amazed!! It is arranged with each room covering a different topic so you can skip the things you might not want to explore in depth. Having grown up vacationing in this area since the late 50's it was a real gift to sift through all the memorabilia. Definitely worth a stop if you are just visiting the area, or have been here before. It gives you a context as to how the Deep Creek Area developed. I will be back to just spend the day! And....it's free!

Wonderful Museum and friendly , helpful staff who were very informative! Will definitely return when we visit town again.

Alot of history to look at........almost too much. I have some items on display there from my family from many, many years ago. Also nice to see it on display --- MEMORIES !!!!!

The Garrett County Historical Museum is a bit misleading in title as it appears to be more of a collection of memorabilia of one well to do family (their automobiles are a central feature), but it is informative and certainly is a start to something even better if other lore of the surrounding area is eventually added.

Lots of information, Staff are good and friendly. Have been here several times. Fun to look at the old time pics and treasure pieces.
