We have been here twice for mid-week getaways. It is easy to get to and very convenient to many nearby attractions. A much nicer place to stay than alternatives like Lexington Park near Pax River. We visited the Museum and attractions at St. Marys and the St Clement's Island museum of our trips, plus Solomon's Island.

One afternoon, the wife, dog and I took a short drive (30 minutes) from Solomon's Island to see what St Georges Island and Piney Point Lighthouse was like. The plan was to stop at the Lighthouse on the way but we missed the turn onto Lighthouse rd. No sign's point the way, you just have to look for the small, green road sign which is easy to miss.Once at St Georges Island, we drove through the small community to the very end. Most every place is privately owned and we didn't feel like it was appropriate to park and get out to explore much. We did stop to snap a few pictures and it's a beautiful drive though. And at the very beginning of the Island there is a Rudy Duck restaurant but didn't open till later in the evening. it looks like a great place to sit on their deck overlooking the water. And another RD in Solomon's has pretty good food and good selection of beer, so it's probably worth checking out.On the way back we found the rd for the Lighthouse. A small museum is also on the grounds, but we didn't go in other than to get a small pamphlet on the Lighthouse. Not a soul there so we had the place to our selves. The Lighthouse was well preserved but you couldn't go inside. Just a very short walk was a nice pier and a very nice stretch of beach to explore. The grounds also had a few picnic tables which would have been the perfect spot to park and have lunch in very nice surroundings. I think this is a bit of a hidden gem for a family.

A very quiet little island with little traffic, different things to see (lighthouses, wildlife, history), different places to eat and a hotel that is very affordable while still giving every room a water view. it is out of the way, but amazingly only 9 miles up the road will be traffic backups around red lights at rush hour. you feel much further away from DC than you really are and there is certainly something to be said for that!

Nice and quiet during the week. Incredible view and so much fun! Great place to fish, swim and barbeque. Great family oriented location and not overly crowded or expensive.

The area is steeped in history. It is quiet and peaceful and fairly remote. If you like wildlife (mostly birds) and lots of water areas to explore this is a fun place.

I really enjoyed St. Georges Island. There isn't a ton to do, but the view is really nice. They also have a little pull off over the bridge, so that would be good to stop at and check everything out.

Narrow island - beautiful water views on both sides. Extremely relaxing stay. Great proximity to Solomons Island, Chesapeake Beach and other southern maryland activities.

Ever feel like traveling to the tropics, but if only for a day? That's what you'll find on St. George Island. A very small island across the bridge from Piney Point, MD, SGI affords a beautiful & panoramic view of the Potomac River & St. George Creek. Vacation houses are interspersed in between traditional watermen cottages, yet the island remains unspoiled - from the marsh to the shore, with plenty of opportunities to see osprey, heron, deer, and all other sorts of wildlife.Take a quick drive around the island, or even stay for some time in a private house or stay/eat at the Island Inn & Suites, where all of the rooms are waterfront. Nearby, visit the Piney Point Lighthouse & St. Mary's City.

This was our third trip to St George's Island/Piney Point. As usual the staff was very cordial, helpful and attentive. The location can't be beat. You are on a small strand where you are surrounded by rivers on both sides so the views are endless and impeccable. Its quiet for the most part and is both business and family oriented. They have bikes to ride which is fun to explore and a canoe to paddle around. Its a mellow place with a very long pier to fish and/or watch the boats and water folks come and go. If I could offer one suggestion-it would be to offer fresh fruit for the "quaint" continental breakfast. The only offerings are processed foods and any fresh items would be a healthy plus.
