ryusei no taki falls

We went in early dec and the twin waterfalls were frozen. despite that its still worth visiting. The winds are rather strong and place is very cold, minus 2 degree. You can take nice pictures.

The best time to head to Ginga & Ryusei falls is just after sunrise. The falls faces east ward and as the sun rises behind the hills, it lights up the waterfalls. Furthermore, everyone else is still sleeping or having breakfast in the hotels, so you have the entire place to yourself. If you are able to climb, there is a observatory spot approximately 400m up from the back of the souvenir shops where you can take pictures of both the falls.

environment is good but the waterfall not very attractive

You can stop it for a while and take nice pictures, or go a bit walking with the stairs (if you are not afraid of moskitoes).

park in car park and climb up stairs. the views from the opposite side are spectacular. the falls are dramatic but not the most beautiful in the world but well worth a look

The Ryusei-no-Taki is also known as the Shooting Star Falls, and is one of the two famed waterfalls in Sounkyo Gorge. According to my tour guide, apparently if you look at the falls at an angle, the water would appear to spew out, resembling a shooting star… I couldn’t really visualise that but anyway, I thought it still looked pretty cool. The place tends to get overcrowded with tourists unfortunately, so it can be quite annoying to get a clear shot of the falls itself, and some tourists can get rather competitive when it comes to snapping shots, so that was the one thing I didn’t really like about the place.

Able to see water falls down from the mountain top since it's summer time. We were told by the guide that in winter time there might be only a small stream running down, or even all turn to be ice. It's not consider a gigantic fall but worth to see.

This place is filled with tourists and tough to get a clean shots. Not the most spectacular water fall though it's located between a valley.

層雲峡の温泉街から車で１０分程度と近く、温泉の行きかえりに手軽に立ち寄れます。日光の華厳の滝のような滝がメインの売りというよりは、峡谷の風景や奇岩に滝もついてくるという感じと思って頂ければ良いかと思います。トイレやお土産屋さんもあり。滞在は、まあ、１０～１５分程度あれば十分かと。

凍っている滝、初めて見ました、雪と見分けが付かず、滝を見るには向かない季節かな、冬ってと思いました。

格別ですね。寒いレベルが違うので、登山に近い防寒対策は必須ですが。まだ滝は凍っていませんが、雪と滝。最高のロケーションです。

川から紅葉が登り、頂上から滝が落ちてきます。川沿いに散策すると又銀河の滝があります。写真ととるにはとても良い場所でした。

ホテル大雪に夜の到着であったので、暗い中でのバスよりのまわりの自然はどんなものなのかわかりませんでしたが、翌朝、バスで流星の滝に向かいました。今度は綺麗な山々など景観を楽しみながら、流星の滝に到着しました。勇壮な迫力ある２つの滝が魅力的でした。９月末であり少し肌寒い朝でしたが、まわりの木々はきれいな紅葉が楽しめ全体の風景はなかなかのものでした。

今回は雨の後で行ったので天気はいまいちですが流量が抜群でした。両方の滝が見える展望台はちょっと歩く距離が多く、熊に注意ということで今回もパス。ここは駐車場、トイレ完備、売店もわりと立派でした。銀河の滝も歩いてすぐです。層雲峡の温泉から車で数分です。

流星の滝は層雲峡にある約90mの落差を激しく流れ落ちる滝。すぐ横にある”銀河の滝”に対して男滝といわれる。滝の流れは豪快で速く、見た目から流星のような感じを受けての命名でしょうか。駐車場も完備されていて駐車場内には、休憩と軽食がとれる「滝ミンタラ」もあります。アクセスは、層雲峡温泉から大函方面へ4㎞ほど。
