3003 steps to linabo peak

There are indeed 3,003 concrete steps all the way up Linabo Peak. Along the way are 16 stations of the cross depicting scenes from the life of Jesus. The steps are hugely popular during Holy week, when thousands of locals make the climb up. The steps are quite busy year-round - there's even an elementary school two thirds of the way up! Views from the top are awesome, but we started from the bottom too late in the afternoon; dusk was falling as we arrived on top. Best to start off very early in the morning, at first light, when it's cooler. Better still would be to climb up in the afternoon and camp on top; come down the next morning. You could easily get some locals to carry your equipment! Bring plent of drinking water with you.
