I spent only 2 hours at Viet Artisans - An Binh Island but the experience was very memorable. All the products are handmade with nice design, I especially love the notebooks covered with printed fabric. It looks very authentic with culture values. The atmosphere around was peaceful and relaxed. I bought a very vintage notebook and there was one thing that I made my trip there unforgettable. I bought a postcard and the staff offered to write a poem on the card for me, it was even more interesting because they use calligraphy art to write, it was so beautiful yet totally...free and all I need to do after that was to write the address of my friend in the USA, they helped me to send there with a very reasonable price. Well, this is one of my favorite trips away from the city. :)

Ilan and I (56) have decided to take a break from our ordinary life, and to go for a one year trip around the world, starting in the far east of Asia. After visiting Thailand and Laos, we arrived in Vietnam for a stay of two months, starting from Sapa in the north and going south, looking for the sun...Since we wanted to get a better view of the local people and their culture, we thought it would be interesting to volunteer somewhere.Viet-artisans was the perfect combination for a beautiful relaxing place on the Mekong delta (a tropical paradise), and for an opportunity to get to learn about the women who work there and  their handcrafts. We learned that on the island of An Binh, both people and sun are always shining. I have been filming and editing the places we`ve been in , during our trip, and I offered the founders of Viet-artisans, to make a short movie about the place. The last two weeks we visited the location, gave the women an English lesson every morning, taught them songs in English, and took some shots for the movie.Leaving the place, to continue our trip, was difficult for both sided. We really love the women that work there. The movie is now on their website and Facebook. Nava Horovitz:

Authentic farmland visit. Family cooked delicious regional specialty foods. i saw old cultural way of life,as well as living with modern conveniences like air conditioning and individual showers. The scenery is Viet Nam farmland scenery, well worth the trip away from the city.

We spent half a day on the island with Viet Artisans, it's a beautiful set up with a very relaxed, peaceful vibe. We were shown how to make our own notebook cover prints, and had a tasty lunch of Vietnamese food.

I bought one of their wonderful rice bags when I visited Vietnam in April 2014. I was so happy with that purchase that I wanted to find out more about them. I visited their centre outside Vinh Long, and was pleasantly surprised. Here you can see how their products are made, and create your own Viet Arrisan product. Very enjoyable visit, and highly recommended.

Viet Artisans, so much of elegance in the name itself. Was volunteering with them together with few other friends of mine from Singapore. We were tasked to do filming in our attempt to market their products and reach out to other volunteers. Do stay tune for our upcoming videos of Viet Artisans. Slow pace lifestyle, that gives one the thought of true happiness. The locals there are such wonderful, genuine people; that they go out of their means to help you. Well, you don't always need the richest to shower you with great hospitality and that is the case with them. There is more to Vietnam, then just Ho Chi Minh City! So do go and explore Vinh Long which is just 3 hours away and you would be mesmerized. I learnt so much elegance and appreciation of detailed handicrafts from the modest and humble artisans!Visit them and your perceptions about the world, might change! Support them.

came here as a volunteer with my other buddies from Singapore. We are tasked to do filming in our attempt to reach out to more volunteers. Please stay tune to our video of Viet Artisans. :)Amazing place away from the crowded tourist spot. The journey there and the whole experience allow us to feel the local life. From the transportation, the local dinning place and the amazing craftsmanship from the ever patient local ladies. They are a perfectionist. Extremely detailed with their measurement. They are always willing to teach you the crafts. Admire their products so much.Best place to get souvenirs and at the same time learn skills and help the people in need. The best way of investing is when you know it helps the people in need. Lets open our heart and play a part in this organisation.

My husband and I visited the Viet Artisan's school and had an experience we will always remember. Although we appreciated the excitement of the cities in Vietnam, our visit to Viet Artisans made us feel as though we were in true Vietnam. When visiting the school we met the artisans who live in the area. It was amazing seeing them work on authentic products and it felt good knowing that our time there greatly contributes to the community and the livelihood of the artisans. The products are beautiful as well! I use my handmade green clutch purse often and it's such a great conversation piece with a wonderful story behind it.

Set in a lovely tranquil spot overlooking the Mekong river Viet Artisans is just a short ferry ride from Vinh Long city. This small not-for-profit craft workshop has been developed in the style of a traditional Mekong Delta farm, with a lotus pond and a beautiful palm thatched building. This is not just an interesting place to visit but an insight into the needs and challenges of a community. They make lovely quality gifts- I especially like the notebooks, fabric laundry bags and brightly coloured purses. We had the opportunity to try our hands at book binding- with the gentle assistance of the ladies who do it every day! I think you can also do calligraphy as an alternative activity. They are working hard on making it accessible for non-Vietnamese speakers- the warm Vietnamese welcome and hospitality (we were taken out for lunch!) compensates for any struggles with communication. There are so many identical day trips to the Mekong Delta which do the rounds of tourist infested , why travel an extra hour to see a beautiful and unspoilt area and spend time at this project which is making a real difference for the local community. Home stays, bicycle rental and boat tours are available nearby. Go now! Their website has some great information about how to get there and what to do nearby.
