The Cadushy Liqueur Distillery is located in the small Village of Rincon and was part of our island tour. It is a fun place to visit (I loved the “cactus” gate at the entrance and the mileage signs) and to sample the unique cactus liqueur. Try it - you might like it!
A very unique experience. Super friendly small batch distillery Try them all and take one home. Thanks Eric - you're the King in my book
This is a small family run business, that is as much a tourist attraction as a real distillery. The still isn't much bigger than my grandmothers big party kettle, and the product not much better either. Its a great little enterprise, but I dont think the products are worthy of anything special
The Cadushy Distillery was great!! We sampled all of their flavors and even their rum, vodka and whiskey all made from cactus. Everything was great!! After sampling all of their products, we earned our "Diving into the Drink" certification and sat down and relaxed with their drink of the day. The whole staff is great and a lot of fun - it was a great place to see in Rincon. This is our second trip there and we'll definitely make it a required stop on all of our trips to Bonaire!!!
We stopped here while on a tour of the island. The people were so nice here. We watched a video on how their liquor is made, then got to sample all of the different flavors. Small place, but clean restrooms and super friendly staff. Liquor is darn good to. We purchased the original flavor to bring home.
We are a family of divers and have been coming to Bonaire for many years. This trip we brought along some other family members unfamiliar with the island and discovered the Cadushy distillary. What a gem! Owners are lovely and very patient in their explanation of the history behind their products. Had several samples and came away with several bottles to take home. Looking forward to mixing up something that will being us back to happy times on the beautiful island of Bonaire!
My husband sells liquor so when he says he's never tasted anything like it, that's a compliment. He really enjoyed the whiskey with the tobacco infusion. I liked the Saba liqueur the best. We had a drink in their shady garden after the samples and bought some to bring back.
This was our 6th trip to Bonaire and our first visit to the distillery, I'm now asking myself " what took so long." They offered a personal tour that was not only educational and interesting but it also was fun. I highly recommend adding it to the list of the things you must do and if you are divers like us, it's a fantastic thing to do the afternoon before you head home since you can't dive. Special treat at the end.... Free tastings of any of the distilled products they produce.
This is my second time visiting Cadushy and everyone there is so nice and welcoming. If you are not really a drinker this place is still worth visiting to familiarize yourself with the local use of the cactus, see the restoration project of an old movie theater next door, and have a soda in the calm courtyard. When You arrive, you walk into a very airy open courtyard with small bar to one side where you check in and someone then takes you on a short tour of the distillery and tells you all about the cadushy cactus. There are some old artifacts and photos to see, which I loved. After the short tour you return back the bar to sample whatever you like. I'm not a big fan of fruity liquor, they are a bit too sweet for me but ended up purchasing a bottle of the cactus liquer and was surprised at what a treat it is in mixed drinks, especially when you are back home and want a bit of island. The true gems are the whiskey which is made of local sorghum and aged with Cuban tobacco leaves, amazing- I came back just to buy more! And the rum is nice and spicy. The vodka is vodka but it's made from sorghum and cactus so that's different. In the end, this is a nice day trip to add after your visit to magazine de Rey and then have lunch at posada para Mira then slowly make your way back to your hotel while enjoying daily life scenes of rincon. The folks that work at the distillery, especially Michelle can help recommend local things to do and so incredibly nice. I highly recommend it.
We stopped in Rincon to tour the Cadushy Distillery after diving up north. It was very interesting learning about how all of their liquors are made and we then sampled them all. But, listen carefully during the tour as you will be quizzed when sampling. Petri gave us a great tour and we, of course, bought some of their products to take home, including a bottle of Captain Don's whiskey. A trip to Bonaire is not complete without a tour of Cadushy.
Despite visiting Cadushy Distillery on a day it was packed with cruise ship guests, the owners took their time with us as individual guests, giving us the tour and explanation and were super-friendly. We had a great time sampling all the products offered and lovely banter throughout, but no sales pressure, which made the entire experience truly wonderful, great memories, I'll visit again!
The Cadushy is located in Ricon, the second village of Bonaire and the produce there liquers and Rum, Vodka and whisky. All produces with local flavours from de Caribean Ilands. We visited the Cadushy and we got an explanation from one of the staff people, Maaike. She made the visit very special, because she and all the attention for us and she knew very much to tell us about the process of making the liquers and rum etc. After the explenation we could try all the self made liquers and other drinks. So our stop unexpected and so was the visit. And a mean that is a very possitive way. Maaike thank you for the tour and your telling.
The education of the history and process was very entertaining. Love the Bonaire dehydrator! Tasted everything and all was excellent. If you are in Bonaire, you must visit. You won't leave empty handed
First off, I've been coming to Bonaire since I was 6 months old. It's been my favorite vacation spot for many years. Generally on my trips I tend to stick with the activities I've done before, diving, and snorkeling. But this time we decided to try some new things, and we found the Cadushy Distillery on one of the Bonaire websites and thought it looked interesting. So off to Rincon we went, where the distillery is tucked away just a few turns off the main road. We got there with about an hour to spare before closing, which was barely enough time, I could have spent a whole day here. We started off with a single tasting of the Cadushy Cactus liquor, and then headed off for our tour. After an exceptional amount of information and great conversation, we headed back to the bar to sample some more of the liquors. I never would have believed how many amazing flavors could come from one cactus and some choice fruits/flavorings. Each one has it's own significance and story to go along with it also, which makes for a truly unique experience. I highly recommend taking time to taste and learn about each one, you'll be glad you did. Lastly, make sure to stock up on any of the liquors you really like, you won't be finding it anywhere else other than the Flamingo Airport duty free (which can run out). Overall, loved my time here, can't wait to go back next time!
Located in the village of Rincon in the interior of Bonaire, Cadushy distillery offers an amazing array of liquors made from local ingredients. Take the time to chat with Yolanda and Eric whose inventive liquors and spirits are as colorful as the Dutch islands they represent. I particularly enjoyed the Cadushy liquor made from local cactus.
