I was tempted to swim with dolphins while deciding on what excursion to take and I am so glad I didn't pick swimming with these sad dolphins. It is indeed very sad to see them here in a small confined space, dolphins travel a great distance and seeing them here the way they are distressed me quite a bit. Scratch marks and bruises were seen on one from people wanting to grab on them.
Please do not support this kind of cruelty to animals. They are kept in a small little iron cage swimming in a circle around and around waiting for the next show to perform or tourist to swim with. They look like they are crying, it is heartbreaking. Please do not think about your fun factor of swimming with a dolphin but think of the dolphin itself suffering in this little cage.
The show may be nice, and the experience of swimming with dolphins may be unforgettable, but seeing these very intelligent animals caged in a pond with a diameter of max 50-100 m was just sad.
Great show with charming and clever Dolphins and clever instructors. Amazing experience to swim together with two Dolphins so soft and kind.
Strongly suggest to use to boat trip. The trip is only for 12 people. The captain will cook a great langoustine meal. Lots of fun + you will have plenty of time to stop to swin in beautiful areas that the catamaran can bring you to.
It s beautiful island not to far away from the main island Cayo Largo. Beautiful water. Fun to go on a boat with about 8 to 10 persons. The captain will cook. It s really nice.
The catamaran all day tour that is available at every hotel was very different from last November when I took the very same trip. This time, the snorkeling location only had a minimal amount of colorless fish and dead coral. The lobster meal served on Cayo Largo this time was well over cooked and they didn't offer the fantastic lobster-kabobs for sale. Next was the dolphin experience. If you have to keep animals in a cage, this is one of the better ways. Most of the dolphins being used have been breed in captivity so they only know what they are missing plus they get as much fish to eat that they want. It is open the the sea and small fish can enter through the bars but nothing big like sharks ect. Way better than a aquarium. This year the interaction with the dolphin was less than half the time. Lastly, the crew of the cataraman start begging for very large tips from the people onboard on the return sail. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Swimming with the dolphins here was amazing! We spent a lot of time in the water with them and were amazed at their abilities. They lifted us in the air and rushed toward the docks and just when you thought you were going to hit the dock, they lowered you into the water...they are very fast and beautiful creatures! Took many pictures but lost my camera...good thing we bought pictures from them. Great deal and well worth the money.
This is just plain sad. Uninformed, apathetic tourists swimming with animals that are caged right next to their home in the open ocean. Don't support this kind of abuse.
Normally I would not have checked this out, because I would expect it to be pathetic and/or inhumane. Unfortunately, my expectations were met and then some.Arriving at Playa Sirena by water shuttle, you can't avoid seeing this so-called attraction, and you especially can't avoid it while waiting for the boat to leave. It consists of one sad dolphin living alone in a small, shallow pen. He does some tricks at feeding time, and spends most of the rest of his time lolling quietly in the shallows, looking at the tourists. For 70 CUC, you can swim with him. It's a very sad life for a wild animal that should be part of a pod, swimming in the open sea. And before someone tells me he was rescued from certain death... well, which would you prefer? Solitary confinement in a broom closet, or certain death?
