cayo levantado (bacardi island)

Love service, hospitality, freindly personel & smiles, great food lots of variety, sea food, fish, filet Mignon, and etc...

I was fortunate enough to stay at the cayo levantado resort which allowed me to beat the crowds to the public beach. The crowds and vendors trying to sell things is why this beach only gets 4 stars. I was able to snorkel and see a few starfish and butterfly fish. The waves were pretty strong so the visibility wasn't absolutely perfect but well worth donning the snorkel and mask!

Loved the beach, perfect snorkelling. Staff is great. Expensive to travel to though. If you want crystal clear waters, this is the beach to go to. Rincon doesn't have water that is good for snorkeling or finding shells, but this beach is perfect, with no coral to jump over to get into the water.

This is a lovely tropical island, supposedly the one on the Bacardi rum bottle. You can easily get here from Samana and a visit is included in many day trips. There is a huge public beach with white sand and palm trees, and beautiful turquoise water. Plenty of snack bars/shops etc. Most day trips include a buffet lunch which is served in a special area for that purpose. Be warned though, most of the island is taken up with a private resort. The public bit is lovely, but limited. So plan your time accordingly. If you are happy to stay around on the beach then you could spend a day here. If not a visit of a couple of hours should suffice. It would be a nice beach for children as there's lots of sand to play on.

We had a very relaxed time there, after the whale watching experience. And the food was great also. Awesome.

We were very lucky to get to stay on the island for 3 nights...it's amazing & I will definitely be going back for a longer stay! We did go to the public beach-which is were you will go if you visit as part of a trip- and it was really nice but very busy with lots of traders!

Stayed at the Luxury Bahia Levantado resort, so please refer to in-depth review there. Public washrooms appear to be only open sporadically. Nice little flea market, beach bar & cafe.

Fee for any type of beverage other than pop, fee for beach chair, the lunch offered as part of the excursion was average, whole experience for this excursion/visit was average

This island was really beautiful with fantastic beaches ,great snorkelling and a variety. Of little shack type restaurants at a great price. And lobster dinner was a great price too but I guess one has to haggle with the operators as we told them we would just go back to our resort and eat free food at the all inclusive !!!!We just did day trips to this island with the ferry service our resort provided us but be very AwareAs one day we missed the hotel ferry service and decided to go to town instead Well along the way. We meet a host of tour operators who offered to take us across .we took one one operator who said he would charge us $20 each one way so we said ok let's go When we came back and got dropped off at our hotel he now wanted $160 , if a policeman didn't intervine in the argument that ensured ,he would have fleeced us Next time we go to samana ,we will go directly to the resorts on this island and just chill out and watch the world go by as we didn't find much to do in the town of samana and the beaches here weren't that great

Lovely beach if you like just beaches...but not my cup of tea ..not much shade ok if you want to get toasted

This island is the public side of the Cayo Levantado Island. We actually stayed at the hotel so we had the luxury of going to this side whenever we wanted which was very neat. I liked it as they had a beautiful beach, a little alley of vendors (who are a little aggressive in their selling but not scary). You should barter as they expect it and raise their prices.....if you get 50% off their price you did good! There is a little area to snorkel at but it isn't great, as a lot of the reef in this area has been destroyed by fishing....I still saw an octopus, and some trumpet fish and others...I never tried the food or drink as I got it free at the other side, but drinks & lounge chairs I believer are $5 each. Also they braid hair and offer massages......very nice experience....

We went on holiday here and it was beautiful! one of the best holidays we have ever had. It does say its a 5 star i would say its a 4 star but a great 4 star!! Food was great and would highly recommend visiting the restuarants but book up! Would be perfect for a honeymoon or just a great get away!

Love the beach, The water was nice and warm and super clear. My only complain would be to have to pay for the chair rentals rather than provided by the hotel like all other places.

Beach was turquoise blue and white sands.The resort was breathtaking with the most professional staff.Rate it at 10 out of 10.Food was excellent.Had a spectacular villa it was huge and elegant.Shuttle service around the resort was efficient.A must

hotel great food great staff great. if you stay here you don't want to leave till end of holiday.
