We rented a boat in La Parguera and went out to several little islands and snorkeling spots in the area, including Isla Mata la Gata. There is a boat dock you can tie off to, picnic tables, and "restrooms". The restrooms were pretty gross, and no TP, but the rest of the island was great. Pack a lunch and spend some time here. Bring your camera!Just west of the boat dock, there is a shallow area between two mangrove clusters were you can snorkel, or even walk around (only a few feet deep). If you snorkel near or through the mangroves, you are sure to see lots of fish. Many blend in with the sand, so pay close attention. We spent the whole day on the water, but about 2 hours in the area of Mata La Gata. The water can be unexpectedly shallow and rocky in places, so be careful if you're boating yourself. I believe you can also pay to be chartered out there, but we liked the freedom of our own boat. Also, you can't anchor in coral or the sea grass, so keep an eye out.
Awesome 4 hours in a sunny December day with an island for the two of us ( and the natural resources employee). Swimming, sun tan, snorkeling, mangrove channels, clear water. Plus restrooms and gazebos. They have a rule of not allowing hamacas which was sad because we took ours but it was awesome. There is not much of a sand beach, but it was great. It was paradise.
Filthy water, stinky restrooms without toilet paper. To make things worse, something bit me while I was in the water and the wound still has not healed. Horrible place. At least my family met nice people and had a good time.
find a local charter....boat to these small outer islands with other boaters. listen to local music and swim!!!!
Really like it...Nice environment. Would be nicer if the place had like a small store to het at least fresh water.
se pueden alquilar los botes, y llegar fasilmente, las vistas son maravillosas, el agua es clara y puedes tirarte al mar.
