We had a great time with Paco on his boat to the monkey island. We have 5 children and we wanted to see the monkeys. The winds were a little high and barefoot adventures would not let our younger children kayak to the island and they only take groups of 6. Christina at Humacoa reserve (another great activity) recommended Paco for the monkey island tour. I called him one morning and he had availability for the same day. He took us over to the island in his boat and provided snorkeling gear, water socks, sandwiches and water. We were able to snorkel for about an hour around a shipwreck and found 4 starfish. We saw over a hundred monkeys the day we were there. Then we went to the other side of the island and were able to kayak a little closer to the island. Pack was friendly and entertaining and made the trip truly memorable. He was very reasonably priced -$40 a person.

Family of 5 kids ages 7,10,13 Seas were quite rough during our visit so we ended up taking Capt. Paco's boat out to Monkey island. What a great little trip and quite entertaining. Really fun experience with local flair and conversation from Paco!

Before you decide to kayak to Monkey Island, remember that it is a a long, hard trip via kayak. Captain Paco took us in his MOTOR BOAT so we arrived quickly and could enjoy the island once we got there. He was thoroughly entertaining, and provided sandwiches, water and all the snorkel gear. We snorkeled around the island but also took turns using the kayak to get a closer view of the monkeys...we saw at least a hundred! Mamas, babies, the works! This was a great trip for five teens and tweens. Enjoyable for the adults too!

Peacockbass

I was out peacock bass fishing with Capt Paco on Saturday the January 17th. It was one of the most enjoyable fishing experiences I have ever had. I never went peacock bass fishing and Capt Paco had me catching fish almost immediately with a few tips and easy instructions..I Would highly recommend fishing with Capt Paco and I will do so again whenever I visit puerto Rico. THANK YOU CAPTAIN PACO FOR A GREAT TIME AND NEW ADVENTURE FOR ME!!!!! PAT

We had a ball today. I highly recommend having Captain Paco and Hector take you out. We saw 7 armed Starfish, many sea creatures, fish. The monkey's must of been laying low today. We only saw about 8 monkey's but was still very exciting to see these in the wild. Paco was not rushing us but let us take out time to snorkel around the island. We plan on going again with him and guest that join us.

We are so glad our group decided to call up Captain Paco. The dock was easy to find, its right below the elevated restaurant in downtown Naguabo and easily found parking on the street. We bought lunch quickly at the restaurant across from the dock but after our swim Captain Paco surprised us with some sandwiches which we were very grateful for! He also had water for us. We didn't get to snorkel because the weather wasn't ideal for clear waters but we had an awesome time seeing TONS of monkeys and kayaking. He has water shoes you can borrow as well as snorkeling gear on board so all you really need to bring is yourself (ready to swim) and a towel. Overall we had an awesome time and I highly recommend it to anyone!

My husband and I took our 16-year old son on Capt. Paco's Monkey Island boat ride and snorkeling cruise. We saw hundreds of monkeys today clambering all over the island. Capt Paco was so nice to us. He told us about the island history. We played instruments and listened to island music. He provided snorkeling gear for us, though we didn't get flippers. Consider bringing your own.I really liked the sea life around the ship wreck. We saw a group of kayakers who had paddled their way over from shore. It was enough work for our covered motorboat to get there, I am so glad I didn't have to paddle myself over in the hot sun.I highly recommend this tour for anyone. He's great with kids.

We spent several days in Naguabo visiting several places in Puerto Rico. I had spoken with Paco before leaving home and he said for us to call him when we arrived to arrange a day for the snorkeling/monkey island trip. I did as he suggested and told him we had a choice of several days. He immediately gave me the weather report that indicated later in the week would be raining. He wanted to try to find some additional folks for the trip and would call me back later that day, but I told him if he couldn't we would go anyway at a his higher price for just the two of us. He called me back in a few hours and it was set up and he had another couple joining us the next day. We walked down to the pier from our B&B to meet him and the other couple and took off. His old boat is "well past its prime" to say the least, but you really don't go very far and you could probably swim back if you had to. The monkeys are interesting and he knows a lot about many things. His English is very good. The fish around the old shipwreck are easy to see, you don't even need flippers, just the water shoes he provides. He makes a simple, but good sandwich and drinks and the conversation is interesting. He plays some simple musical instruments and gets everyone involved. It makes for a really nice, laid back day at a great price. One the day we went, his deck hand didn't show up. but we all pitched in and handled a few things like the anchor and ropes, etc. and had no problems at all. We all had a great day. We would go back out with him in a minute if we were there, no doubt about it....... He is a fine elderly gentleman that loves what he is doing and wants to share it with all of us.

If you're anywhere in Puerto Rico you must go. It was one of my favorite parts of our trip. Paco is the nicest old man and he really enjoys doing what he does. He gives a good history and has everything you need for a good price. The boat isn't the best looking but it'll get you there and you'll have a ton of fun. It's cheaper if you can get more than 2 people. Call him early in the morning to check about the current day. Also make sure you get him to play one of his seashells for you! His answering of the phone is the best. It's another beautiful day in paradise!

I tell EVERYONE who goes to PR to go see Captain Paco and the monkeys. I am going for the second time soon. A rare and amazing experience.

Paco was 73 when he took us out in July of 2014, but he has the spirit of a teenager. For a mere $40 per person, he took is on a 3-hour tour of Monkey Island and showed the best spots to snorkel. When we got back into the boat we were served fresh sandwiches and mangos. He knows local history and culture and is anxious to share. Listen to him carefully and heed his instructions for an EXCELLENT outing.

We are the couple mentioned by the previous reviewer, and absolutely agree that Captain Paco is the best way to experience Cayo Santiago (Monkey Island). I called to set up the trip without much notice and was greeted warmly each time on the phone and received a follow-up call to confirm. The directions Captain Paco gave were spot on, and easy to follow. The trip itself was very fun, and as mentioned by some other travellers we also saw kayakers struggling to make the journey. The snorkeling was quite fun as well. Along with the sandwiches we also got fresh mango which was delicious. The boat ride was also entertaining with the music lessons as well as more history about the area and the island itself. We are looking forward to returning the next time we make it to Puerto Rico.

Captain Paco is the best! I don't even know where to start. Our family of four met with Paco for a morning tour. There was another couple going out with us. Right away Paco was very friendly and entertaining. It was a little choppy heading out to Monkey Island but actually the kids thought is was like riding a roller-coaster. We saw lots of Monkeys. Paco told us the history about the island. I was worried about my son(7) being able to snorkel. He was a champ and many places he could stand. We saw ton of fish around the shipwreck. Our kids found all the starfish. We went kayaking also. It was very calm and peaceful. Paco made us ham and cheese sandwiches that taste amazing. Something about the sea water make everything taste better. Paco tried to teach us how to make music on the shells. Our daughter(10) was the only one on the boat that could do it. We had the best time. Paco is great! We would have gone again if we had more time on our vacation.

Captain Paco was a lot of fun to spend a few hours with. He grew up in the area, and before we got going on our trip over to Monkey Island he talked about its history and Puerto Rico in general. The trip over was smooth and safe, and because some of the members of our group were prone to feeling seasick, he anchored the boat in a more sheltered area. From there we went snorkeling for quite awhile and we never felt rushed. Unfortunately the monkeys were feeling shy that day because we only saw a couple of them on the island, but the snorkeling was interesting, especially by the shipwreck he stopped by towards the end.
