blue mountain experience

I know I know, stay with the established tours..WRONG WRONG WRONG. Hire a local for a private ride. You will spend time in the local villages, eat at places your driver likes (not where the tour gets a kickback) and do all at your own pace. The people are wonderful and friendly. The mountains are stunning and an up close time with the locals will change your view of the " dont leave the resort attitude"

We traveled through sugar cane fields and took shortcuts to the blue mountains. It was an 80 mile round trip as we stopped at rum facilities, the Army base, farmers homes, and a few family refreshment depots. I wouldn't advise the fair skinned people to travel this way since you can get severely sun burned at these altitudes.

Definitely a worthwhile natural experience. Stayed at the grand Riu in Negril and needed some adventure. So we booked a day trip with the tour operator Singh on the advice of other Tripadvisor reviewers. Couldn't have been happier with his tour of the Blue mountains It included his knowledge of the sugar cane industry, including Appleton ,showing how all people grow there own fruit trees, a visit to a small local market and many old churches and buildings including the hillside mansion estates Felt safe and comfortable in his reliable Toyota Van with cooler at all times.

Need a jeep or 4 x 4 vehicle as the road is rough and bumpy! The road is winding and narrow but the views are breathtaking! You end up above sea level. Amazing.

Guide was great. Got some great coffee straight from the farmer. The area is beautiful and you see part of Jamaica that is unspoiled .

Did a Horseback tour through the mountain, was worth the price ($120). Got some local history, found a meal, had a beverage, got some great pics of seven mile. Prepare to come back enlightened.

Getting to Blue Mountain can be quite the ride through lush free countryside and winding narrow roads. We went partially up in an ancient Land Rover driven by King-the charge is negotiable depending on business. The road is rutted and bumpy-not recommended for rental cars unless you have a tank! We went to a coffee farm run by a Rastafarian man and his family and purchased coffee to bring back for friends.

I love always green if you like green you can visit this place. I spend very excellent time in this place.

if you are a lover of nature well you just got to visit the Blue mountain it so lush and green beauti and a chilling experience you just got to be there

Best coffee in the world brought back remember to bring back the Jamaican sugar as well. The people where very friendly and the refreshments where amazing. This is a must for any one who wants to see the real Jamaica. We hired a private Driver from JTL tours I would recommend the same

We dove from the top of a Fresh Water Hole!! It was amazing. I'm 45yrs. old and told myself to just do it!!!

The best way to experience the mountain is to hire a route taxi to go there. That way you can stop along the way and get an experience you cannot with tour companies. Was able to stop and chat with some local farmers and purchase coffee way cheaper than anywhere else.

Much to SEE and do here. This gives you a very different perspective of the island, culture and the landscape than you get from laying on the beach.Bring some hiking boots, a camera, bug spray and enjoy!

it is worth a visit but there is more romance to it by travel guides than it really deserves; coffee factory is an imperative

Being a local himself John had excellent local knowledge and nothing was too much trouble for him. He was amazing and kept us entertained throughout our stay. We could not recommend him more highly.
