Old fashioned tea room, small menu, but unique atmosphere. Good parking. Turn back time there is no heat in the house so don't go on a cold day. They have special days like Mother's Day brunch.
Although I am a volunteer at the HBH, I was a visitor before I joined. The experience at the house one of a guided tour throughout the house, from the basement, (yes it was built with a basement and you'll love the history there), to the attic, (where the servants bedded), to the property with the decades old apple trees, maintained in the same way they were when the house was originally built in 1860. There are period events throughout the year where tickets can be purchased and they are all sell outs. The volunteers provide the tours and information about the house and the way lives were lived in the 1860's as well as how the house performed through the years afterwards. Although the house tours are only offered on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays from 12 noon to 4pm. There is much to see and experience and questions are welcomed. We also have a gift shop on site where monies made from donated and hand made items and articles, is used to maintain the house in it's period style by purchasing adidtional items when possible from antique shows and auctions. The house is a walk through time and a very knowlegde enhancing experience.
Bovaird House is a good example of a farmhouse that was lived in in the past and has been restored to enable upcoming generations to experience what life was like in that time period. With excellent volunteers with information that will transport you back in time. I recommend a visit back in time.
This is a nice little piece of history. There are lots of historical articles and pieces of Brampton's past. It's a nice place to check out if you are touring or passing by but quite honestly, once you've seen it, you've seen it.
