Moonstone is a great hill, good value and now has night skiing. Enjoyed a beer and a delicious poutine. Overall great time!

I had only skiied a few times in the past and was introduced by my nephew to this skii resort when I visited Toronto this last December. It was not too far away from the City of Toronto as one can take Hwy 400 North towards Barrie and Parry Sound and exit at Mount St. Louis Road (Exit 131). Since my nephew is an experienced snowboarder, he went his own way to enjoy the more difficult runs with friends and I stayed in the beginner's area, skiied numerous times using the magic carpet and then made one attempt on the Sundance Quad lift with my nephew. The experience was fully enjoyable as the resort had good snow making capabilities and the snow on the runs was powdery. I learned that the resort has 9 chair lifts and 36 ski slopes for different skill levels as well as night skiing. The staff at the reception were quite amicable and introduced me to a package price of $86.75 for skii equipments, helmet, use of skii lifts and a one hour beginner's group lesson. Staff at equipment rental were also all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Since I had skiied before, I did not take the lesson and saved the energy for fun. The Base Chalet does have cafeteria service and there is an indoor sitting area where one could take a break and indeed if you desire, bring your own snacks to re-energize. It is a place I definitely will return in the future as it is so close to the City.

We go to MSLM with our ski club (North Toronto Ski Club). It's my favourite. We generally get dropped off on the Mt St Louis side and spend the morning in lessons with the club.At lunch we eat in the lodge. We usually like to bring our own food and the only drawback is that there are no microwaves provided to heat things up. We like to ski across to the Moonstone side. I like the runs that connect the two sides. We are beginner-intermediate skiers and the range of runs suits our skill level.Pay attention to which way the sun is moving as when it goes down the snow becomes a white blur, and you can't see bumpy bits.

Had a disappointing experience at this ski hill on Family Day weekend. After calling the night before and checking the Mt. St. Louis website the morning of, we headed out on a 2.5 hour drive to ski at Mt. St. Louis. Upon our arrival we were told there would be no night skiing due to weather conditions (wind). This is understandable as no one can control the weather but I was disappointed to learn that they updated their website with this information after we had checked their site at 9:30am. I then politely asked to speak to a manager concerning the tickets we had purchased online. After waiting well over 10 minutes to speak to someone, I was greeted by an arrogant manager (Sarah). She did not once ask what she could do for us or offer an apology for the inconvenience. I felt like I received a lecture as if I were a child and this was all my fault. Eventually this unpleasant manager got around to answering my only question about a ticket refund but she was definitely not friendly about it. Needless to say we left this terrible resort with the intentions to never return. A simple apology and friendly customer service would have went a long way. My group of friends and I headed over to Horseshoe Valley where I will be sure to return in the future as their customer service was top notch along with their resort. Horseshoe Valley even apologized to us for the terrible experience we had down the road. I am not one to complain, but this experience is one that needs to be shared!

Had an extremely disappointing experience here on Feb 15, 2015. Management (Sarah) was highly disrespectful and helped me in my decision never to return. A truly terrible experince. I do not reccomend anyone to ski here. The staff at Horseshoe Valley were very friendly and even apologized for the treatment we received down the road at Mt St Louis.

Excellent for those who are transitioning to the "More Difficult" Slopes. It's not crowded, the rental equipment is clean and new.We had a lot of fun, with great snow conditions . The staff was ok, the food was average and the prices reasonable.

Recently made the trek up to Moonstone as we heard so much about it. Its probably the best I've been to so far (not been to Blue yet). The runs are long and the lifts are very good and lots of them! The wait times are not long like some other places. Love how they have so many different runs, any skier of any level will love to ski here. The most impressed was the last time we went I pulled up front. An older gentlemen opened up a parking spot right out front for me as he saw me with young children. He showed me how to get inside to an area not as crowded so it would be easier for my kids. It was so much appreciated! That day that man who worked there really made my day. They have a nice cafeteria upstairs that we usually eat at but this time we opted to bring out own food and have a little picnic. They have tables for families that do that which is great. Will definitely look into getting a pass for my family here in the future.

Established in 1964, Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a southern Ontario ski resort located north of Barrie. The resort features 40 runs/slopes (20km) across 75 hectares (185 acres) serviced by 13 lifts (3 detachable sixies, 1 detachable quad, 2 quads, 2 triples, 1 double, 3 magic carpets). The resort has a total vertical drop of 168 meters (550 feet). Approximately 35% of the runs/slopes are easy (green), 50% are intermediate (blue), and 15% are advanced (black). Collectively, the lifts can move 21,800 people an hour. Passes cost $54 for adults and $39 for youth. Lifts run daily between 9:00am and 9:00pm. Lift lines can be long. Runs/slopes open for night skiing are extremely well lit. Night skiing started in 2013. The resort only receives about three meters of snow a year and therefore relies heavily on its own snowmaking abilities to sustain operations. To that end, the resort has heavily invested in the latest and greatest snowmaking equipment. The resort has two lodges. Both lodges are somewhat dated. Food is what you would expect for a ski/snowboard resort and includes burgers, nachos, pizza, fries, soup, and chilli. Lockers are available if you need them. Both lodges also have a pub and occasionally feature free entertainment. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is not usually an issue.

We are a family of 4. Dad is an expert skier, mom is getting better and kids (6 and 9) are pretty good too. We loved this place because there are tonnes of options for blue and (do-able) black runs. We were at blue mountain last year but found there weren't enough runs for those in the beginner/intermediate range. Here, there were tonnes of options! Lift lines were almost non-existent on a Friday (PD day but v cold) and staff everywhere were helpful. Highly recommend for skiing in Ontario!

We had such a good days skiing at Moonstone. We were staying in Toronto and decided to drive up for the day. Before we arrived in Canada I had sent some mails to the staff here and they were very helpful telling me what I needed to do and how much everything would be. I was keen to make sure we got the right packages as there were 6 of us and 3 were beginners. The location is right next to the main highway, literally 200 metres. There were clear signs into the car park. Once parked we went to the rental office and sorted out our equipment. We were hiring ski's, boots, poles etc. The staff were really helpful and the kit was all in good shape. 3 of our party were taking a beginners lesson. These lessons started on the hour every hour and it ended up being a private lesson as there were so many instructors! Within 30 mins all 3 of them were skiing to what I would say reasonable ability! I was so surprised. By the end of the lesson they were onto the easy blue runs! For me and my 2 other sons we went straight onto the rest of the runs that were all in great condition. No lines on the lifts and mid afternoon down came the snow! Overall great day, we arrived at 11am and didn't leave until 8pm! Good value and wholly recommended. My decision to come here was also endorsed by the fact that there was a FIS slalom ski race on at the same time!

I'm a member with a locker.Ski with my son. Awesome for bonding. Often had fresh snow last year. Lifts are effecient and fast and well maintained.Terrain is varied and good slopes for all but super experts from out west who only ski death defying steeps. For adrenaline junkies there is a top park for tricksters...but for cruisers there is lots of area to get tired and have fun.My favorite hill around here. Great terrain and minimal to no long lines ever....even when busy lifts are fast.Even the parking is better then other bigger hills by a longshot.

Skied here with family 3 times over March break. My wife and son are beginners. I was extremely impressed with the facilities for beginners compared to our local resort. After 2 runs I was quite comfortable letting our son off the harness for the first.time. Rarely had lift lines and when there were, we never had to wait more than 3 or 4 chairs. Express lifts are extremely fast. Lift attendants were always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for family skiing.

This is a great hill. There was a large variety in the hill difficulty and the lines moved very efficiently. The food in the lodge was fairly good and there was adequate seating - although if you can avoid the prime lunch hour you'll have an easier time finding a seat.

Last I ski at Mount St. Louis was two years ago. I noticed a few changes made it even better when it is already one of the best place to ski within an hours away from Toronto. More high speed chair lifts, more Terrain parks for jumps and other fun things. More space for beginners. It is great place to visit during winter time. There is special discount when you buy tickets online ahead of time.I believe they are expanding the Chalet this year. So l am looking forward to see it next year.

While we enjoyed the skiing there and the staff on the slopes were very friendly, we were very disappointed with the service we received at the front desk. When we first registered for the beginners package we were told we could upgrade the children at no additional cost. When we went back to the desk in the afternoon the staff person who told us this was still there but another staff person questioned her. She told me to just hold on for a moment. After having us wait more than 30 minutes, they finally concluded that the information they provided me earlier was wrong and that I would now have to pay for the upgrade. I did pay since I promised the children and didn't want to lose out on any more time. I sent an e-mail to complain afterwards and they couldn't even be bothered to respond. Very disappointed.
