had not been here in many many years. So enjoyed watching all the people , especially the children dressed in the attire of the times. All the different establishments have such knowledgeable persons speaking and showing us what they are doing.. Some favorites were the tin maker, the cheese maker and the furniture maker....I recommend going before school starts so you can see the children!!!this is so educational for families , so everyone can reflect on how far we have come...and how times were so different....just take them to see the doctors house and ask questions.we also purchase a fresh loaf of bread with some cheese to snack on continued trip~~~ yummy!

UCV is a great place to spend a day going back in time. Take the time for a boat ride or horse drawn carriage around the Village. Once summer is over dont forget to get spooky at Pumpkinferno or see the village lit up with christmas lights over the holiday. You won't regret a visit any time of year

What a fantastic evening. Upper Canada Village is always a great family outing, but their "Alight at Night" evenings during December is simply amazing. Over a million lights are strung through out the village. Horse drawn wagon rides, give you a close up view of the entire village. A ferris wheel gives a different perspective to the light show. Various restaurants offer a variety of meals to warm you up and are offered at good prices. You can book private carriage rides for two. A visit to the bakery for some fresh bread is a must. A lovely way to celebrate the holiday season. At Chrysler Hall a light show is set to music an excellent touch. And a visit with Santa is an option to complete your evening.

We were fortunate to visit on the Saturday of the Lunch with Santa. Our girls had never met Santa and this was the perfect setting for it. We arrived too early and had to go for a drive, as nothing opened for an hour, wish that the website had that info. We had lunch with Santa, made crafts, decorated cookies and even got a present from Santa. Then we came out of the restaurant and hopped on the wagon ride that took us through the village. When we got out to the parking lot the train was running, so we did that as well. We went for another little drive - it wasn't dark and nothing was open in the village yet. When we got back the place was packed. The lights were amazing. The kids loved the ferris wheel, and we loved the bakery. Also loved the super hot chocolate on that cold night! It got a little crazy by the end of the night there were thousands in the village with tons of horse carriages and wagons running around. So, that was our cue to leave. Glad we were there when there was no one to be seen - a lot more peaceful and we could actually read the info on the buildings without being pushed around.

summer or winter, ucv never ceases to amaze me. Affordable and great to bring your family to. The bread is the best!

The Village was very pretty lit up, but it was confusing as to where to go. There should have been maps handed out or have a large display of the Village where you come in. The train ride was a waste of time. Thought it went through the Villiage. Just went through the dark. No lights to see. Villiage was very nicely lit though!

This was my 6th visit to this event. It is a wonderful way to see Upper Canada Village in the winter. This year there was no snow to brighten up the Village, but the dark caused by lack of snow really made the lights really pop. We had reservations at Willards restaurant and ate a wonderful meal at a very reasonable price, sang Christmas Carols in the church, followed by a horse sleigh ride around the village. Obviously not an evening for everyone as noted in some of the earlier comments but really a pleasant way to spend an evening with friends. Family friendly event as well.

Each December Upper Canada Village is festooned with coloured lights, outlining most of the buildings and many trees and fences around the Village. Last count was over one million lights. You can tour by horse and wagon or on foot and It really is beautiful. Last night the warm unseasonal temperatures made is very comfortable to walk around but be warned that the same temperatures have turned the paths to mud. It would be magical with a snowy background. Recommend buying tickets on line. Your ticket includes parking and rides on the wagon and ferris wheel. There was quite a wait for the ferris wheel and that might be unmanagable if the weather was colder. Overall we had a great evening.

Alight the night was a fun festive outing. Did the carriage ride for two and had a great tour. Recommended for couples who love the holiday season!!

Over the years, it's been getting more expensive.$51.00 for two adults and two kids. That's crazy. Almost fell on the road because they were too cheap to throw salt or sand. The train ride was boring and cold even though it had covers on it. Not worth the trip for the cost.

Being a local, this is my third or fourth visit to the festival. I haven't been in probably five years and found a lot more to do this time around than I remembered. My 8 year old dAughter especially liked the Ferris wheel and the view of the village was spectacular from the top. We did not have a wagon ride as the line seemed too long of a wait. We went on the train which was as cold as I can remember. Dress very warm if you plan to do this as the wind does get to you...especially going along the river. We had a fairly nice -2 evening but the wind is always an issue by the river...so do dress appropriately. All in all a lovely experience. I am not a winter person so weather can always dampen the experience for me but this year was great.

I am a little late in reviewing this attraction but I did want to comment on Pumpkin Inferno. We went on a Saturday evening in October. We booked reservations to eat on site which ended up being an excellent move, since we were able to get into the site early, eat and view the exhibits before the large crowd. When we were leaving we saw a long, long line up which would have made viewing the various attractions difficult when all those people got into the viewing area. The food in the Harvest Barn, where we ate, was OK but it was typical cafeteria type food. Hamburgers, fries, etc. Not a great ambiance but fun for a mixed group of adults and children. We originally had reservations for Willard's but our group size out grew the space they had available for our desired reservation time so the Harvest Barn became our option. We all enjoyed the exhibits. At first we were amazed and then we realized that they were not actually carved pumpkins but plastic display. However given the length of the display, use of real pumpkins would be out of the question and it really did not take away from the amazing lights and fun display. We enjoyed our visit and it was a nice little drive from Ottawa for a fun family gathering. We are going back for the Christmas lights. We have been in previous years and enjoy the display.

I went to the " Alight at night festival" tonight and I have to say it was quite a letdown. It was far from being a festival! There were alot of lights but really nothing going on. There was one person at the church playing a piano and singing Christmas carols. The rest of the place was dark, quiet and boring! Virtually no entertainment!! Not worth the $13 admission fee!

The best Christmas experience for the whole family a must see. Visit the village store for all your Christmas needs a nd don't miss the Victorian Santa in Chrysler Hall.

We visited Pumpkinferno in October 2014. We were virtually by ourselves as the weather called for pouring rain (which didn't happen). We were excited at first at the lights are nice. Excitement quickly turned into disappointment when we realized that not a single pumpkin is real...they are all plastic!! Sure the effect can be beautiful and apparently they are indeed hand carved but, they are plastic. Some displays are big panels of hand carved plastic pumpkins, glued on to a panel with lights at the back... there were no activities either, no option to buy pumpkins for example, or hand-carving real pumpkins... I will not be recommending this activity again.
