We visit here once a month. The eggs are amazing. The food is mostly home made. The seasonal gifts always impress.
This place reminds me of what I think a "general Store" felt like in days past except it is brought up to current day goods for sale. Great frozen food section with everything you could ever want.Large assortment of decorating goods and "nick nacks" and general "stuff".Always a crowd in their cafe section and weekends it is hopping.Overall a great experience.
When I gave the cashier my credit card for a purchase of $29.96, she said it was store policy to charge a $1.00 on purchases under $30.00. R E A L L Y?...for 4 cents, they were going to charge me? Like many people, I prefer to pay by credit card for the points and do not carry much cash. On principal alone, I was not paying White Feather Farms an extra $1.00 to use my credit card even if I didn't earn any points. I like to shop locally but there isn't anything they sell that I can't get elsewhere.Penalizing customers for not making a big enough purchase is greedy. They do a booming business and it's about time they start to value their customers instead of nickel and diming them.
Always enjoy coming to White Feather Country Store. Has fresh baked goods, large selection of their own made in Canada pickles (forget made in USA Bicks), great cafe for scratch made sandwiches, pastries, meat pies, soups, has everything but the kitchen sink in regards to gifts, kitchen supplies, candies, jams, home decor, clothing, cookbooks, children's toys and books, greeting cards (I always gets my Christmas cards/annual wall calendar here), fresh in season apple cider, milk, fresh from the farm eggs, frozen meats and vegetables (in the summer fresh local tomatoes), Christmas decorations, live baby chicks at Easter for the kiddies .... and the list goes and on. Can't drive by without stopping in. Don't forget the apple fritters and a loaf of fresh bread. Grab a few friends and come for tea and lunch. Guaranteed you won't leave empty-handed.
We visited for the first time in a couple of years for lunch after our tree trekking adventure up the street. Our plan was to get something to take home for lunch. Not realizing they've expanded to include a restaurant. It's cafeteria style with choose your own seating. I got a beef meat pie and my hubby got a chicken meat pie with butternut squash soup. Both DELISH!!! Then we walked around the store and stocked up on some other goodies for later. The apple fritters are to die for and only $1.25! Really. My mouth is watering thinking about them.
If you can't cook, but want to eat well, this is the place for you. A great selection of homemade bakery items, an abundance of frozen, ready-to-eat foods plus a country store with an array of browsing goodies. The service is great, the atmosphere is definitely country. I challenge you to go in and NOT find something you want. I've told family members about this place and now they're hooked t
This is a true gem! Try the cheese bread and all of the frozen foods are great! Stuff is local and prices are so reasonable!
There are many reasons why we like White Feather. Their frozen meat selection is very good and we always buy breaded chicken, vegetables, wings and meat pies for quick dinners on those rushed evenings. They have some vegetables which I imagine are locally grown. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can buy apple fritters which come straight out of the oven. They might not have as much apple in them as before, but we still like them. In the back of the store you can find home decor. My wife can disappear in there for an hour or two. Finally, the store appears to be open all the time. I remember shopping there on Good Friday this year and most recently on Canada Day.
White Feather is off the beaten path, but you will know when you get there because there is a truck disguised as a chicken . This is a true country store. The front of the store carries homemade baked goods, everything from bread to brownies. The best pies you will ever have. There is also a restaurant at the front with the most amazing homemade soups you will ever taste. On Saturday and Sundays it's packed, so prepare to wait a little while for a vacant seat. In the summer they sell Kawartha Ice Cream, yummy! There are is also a large frozen section with local meet, jams and all kinds of things you just didn't know existed. I highly recommend the Apple Pie Filling Jam. Amazing!!The back of the store has lots of really nice home and gift items that look like they came right from the farm. Lots of quilts, hand made fabric rolled carpets, iron stuff, cute pictures etc. You could spend hours there. If your out for a drive and you haven't been to White Feather, I highly recommend it.
