Very family oriented and inexpensive. Good selection of animals. Area vfor kids to interact with the animals.
You should really go to this zoo it's been soo much fun. It's great for the kid's and the parent's too. So I hope that the people that are gonna go to the oshawa zoo have FUN!!!!!!!!!
Very nice if you don't feel like walking the lengths of the Toronto zoo obviously because of the size of the zoo there aren't as many species but it's a cute place to take a date or go relax with family.
The farm setting of the zoo is great. It is easy to walk around. The children all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was sorry to see that the animals didn't seem well looked after and several of them seemed to be overfed. It would be nice to have more postings giving more detail of each animal. Some of the animals had traded paddocks but the signs remained for previous tenants. I don't want to be too critical because the children just loved being there and for that reason alone I give it 3/5.
Having lived in Durham Region for 20 years, I must confess this was my first visit to the Oshawa Zoo but it certainly won't be the last. My daughter & I took her 2 1/2 year old son there todayand he absolutely loved it. He could interact with all the animals and wasn't afraid to get up closeand personal to feed all the different animals. As for the baby chicks he had to make sure everyone was holding one. I must say what impressed me most was the cleanliness of the zoo. While it is not the biggest zoo around with a big budget they certainly know to keep things clean.NO SMELL. It was the perfect size for younger children just getting used to animals. I know mygrandson can't wait to go again and the family pass is worth every penny. Help support a greatplace for all the kids.
Very interactive for the kids and a very safe area for them to run free and feed the animals. my 1 and 2 yr olds love it here and its very reasonable for price and season passes. i go 3 days a week for 45 mins just to get the kids out. excellent owners and very well kept animals and grounds
I have to say that everythine about this place was fun and exciting. The animals were up close, not lots of walking, it was very interactive and the animals looked to be very well cared for. My daughter was able to hold a couple of new chicks and feed a lemur and we were not charged anything extra for doing it. I would have purchased the year pass if I lived closer to the zoo. The only reason for the 4 star is because a couple of times we stopped by and they were closed when they should have been open. lol
A great place to bring your kids and have them feed all sorts of animals with popcorn and dry fruits that you can buy at the reception.Animals: goats, horses, dromedary, donkeys, deers, chicks, wild turkey, lemurs (2 kinds), peacocks and ducks (both walk freely on the land with you), sheeps, lamas (2 kinds) and more. That's all I can remember for now.* The most beautiful peacocks I had ever seen in a zoo. Surprising, considering it's a small zoo. Even in all the big zoos I've seen in my life, those were the most complete in terms of feathers. It's only 12$ per adult and cheaper for kids and seniors of course. Only 15 minutes from downtown, this activity is worth going.
Nice little zoo although I thought it was more like a petting zoo. The kids loved it. Lots of open space to let little ones wander. You can buy popcorn to feed some of the animals and there is also a spot where they can catch the baby chicks and pet them. We bought a family season pass which is great value if you plan on going more than once. The owners are very nice and friendly. My little ones had a great time.
My granddaughter and I really enjoy ourselves at the zoo-lots of opportunities to pet the animals etc-some parents need to supervise their children more at the baby chicks-put the cell phones away-staff are excellent
Took 3 of the grandkids to the zoo and they had a great time. Great interactive spot for the kids to get up close to the animals. Our 1 year old grandaughter thought it was great that her cousins could show her the chicks and ducklings up close Pot bellied pigs were a hit as well. Price is ok with the free coupon, about an hour to tour the zoo which is long enough for a 1 year old.
In response to Jason F's opinion, I was there June 23rd with my 2 kids. Jason's children (or the children he should have been supervising) were abusing the baby chicks that day. They were pulling their wings, dropping them time and time again and squeezing their necks. I would like to commend the staff for handling the situation as professionally as they did. Personally, I have nothing but positive experiences at this zoo. It is one of our favourites!
Kids love the experience. Employees are fantastic and helpful. Our children love the Toronto zoo, but this is an entirely different experience. Children are given the opportunity to feed and pet a variety of animals. The zoo offers educational opportunities and life lessons ie. respect for animals.
Lived in Oshawa for many years and this was our first time to the Oshawa Zoo. This was a great place where you get right up close. You can actually pet the animals and feed them with popcorn. A plastic pail is given to you when you pay your entrance fee. Noticed a few picnic tables so bring a picnic basket. All kinds of birds walk freely around. The only washroom we saw was those portable ones. I really don't like using them but at least there was someplace to go. Also noticed several signs missing from enclosures so if anyone has any extra cash lying around, they could use it.
It's sad when you have employees yelling at children & worse has a disrespect for their customers. Worse place ever to go & believe me save a bit more & enjoy yourself at the Toronto Zoo.
