We went to the falls early in the morning and the view was very nice. It is easy to get to and well worth the visit.
Staying in terrace bay and drove to see the falls....saw them from two different locations....down by the beach it shows the end of the falls then also from the top..unbelievable! Plenty of water...so much so that when you get to the last platform railing you are hit with mist coming from the falls. The walk is not extremely long and it is all on wooden walkways with railings. Even a person who has trouble with long walks, I feel could handle this.
Falls had only a little water going over it during our stop over. Would be great with spring runoff or after lots of rain. Beautiful scenery but they need a better viewing platform at a vantage right across from the falls. It is worth the stop and look see.
Great spot to stop for lunch or stretch the legs! Beautiful view from the lookout. Have to say the drive along Lake Superior is absolutely gorgeous. Many places to stop along the way.
You have to see this falls...specially right after winter when the falls have higher volume of water and greater speed.
Whether you're staying overnight in Terrace Bay or just driving by, be sure to stop to see the Aguasabon Gorge and Falls (with Lake Superior in the distance). The gorge and falls are just off the highway west of the town and there is no fee. Really worth the few minutes it takes. If you’re there longer, follow the signs to Terrace Bay Beach on Lake Superior and take a walk on the Casque Iles Trail (part of the Voyageur and Trans Canada trails). The first section is wide, level and well marked. Then it gets more rugged and challenging.
We drove from Thunder Bay. While the drive was amazing the destination itself wasn't that terrific. If you are in the area, by all means go visit the falls, but I wouldn't go to out of the way to visit them.
Well maintained, easy to find, easy path to the lookout. Plenty of parking available. I'm afraid of heights, so I couldn't stand at the rail, but my kids really enjoyed it. Beautiful falls!
