Typical bar food with friendly staff. The beer is cold and the sirloin burgers with sweet potato fries are a perfect meal to complete your round of golf.
Played the heron today for the first time. Loved the people and the course. Will definitely return. Had a wag jag voucher. Terrific value and we played the course pretty fast. Loved "Jim" the Marshall, what a sweetie.
Attended a wedding for family. Food was delicious, and had lots of options for guests with special needs. Special thank you's to the banquet wait staff, who were so friendly and helpful. Course is beautiful and well-kept. They must have a stellar groundskeeping crew!
Both the Sparrow course (par 67) and Heron (par 72) are in immaculate condition. Greens are quick. The Heron course is a challenge to the best of golfers. Very friendly pro shop staff.
I golfed here half a dozen times last summer as I have done for many years. Great course, well maintained. It's a fast round without being a short course.
not a bad little set of three nine-hole golf courses, short and narrow, not terrifically cared for but good enough in a pinch... subject to fairly strong winds
Fairways are impeccably maintained, The "Sparrow" 18 is shorter and less challenging but scenically delightful. Lots of sand and water. The second 18 is longer and interesting. Cost is mid range at about $50-$60 per person with power cart.
It's not very often that a public or semi-private golf course is noted for its food, but Sparrow Lakes GC is an exception. While the day-to-day menu is somewhat limited, Thursdays offer both a generous, all-you-can-eat buffet and an amazing pizza & wings combo - enough for two and just $ 12. Pizza has thin & crispy crust and plenty of cheese & pepperoni; the wings are large, tender and, admittedly, messy. The buffet varies week to week, but several "mains" and delicious "sides" are always available. The clubhouse features two large seating areas and a covered outdoor patio that looks out onto the Heron Course. Nothing fancy; just really good food.
Sparrow Lakes is the only 36 hole golf facility in niagara, at least that i can think of.its reputation is that it generally caters to seniors and women. the place is very well run, everything is in order and impeccably maintained. The Heron is the championship course at 6700 yards with water on at 70% of the holes. the front 9 is a little more difficult but the back is more fun. unfortunately there is not even one memorable hole in this design which is a shame since its so well maintained. Due to this it would be tough to place it in niagara's top 20 full size courses. The Sparrow is the original course at 4900 yards. with the exception of a horribly designed par 5 on the front 9 the course is truely the standout of the complex. Mature trees line the course making for some great eye candy that was so sorely lacking in its older brother the Heron. The pars 3's are fun, tough and memorable, the back 9 is better than the front.yes, the majority of people here were woman and seniors, but dont let that discourage you from playing an icredible executive course and an immaculate challenging championship course.
