If you are traveling to Kamloops this pace is a must. So many beautiful and well cared for animals with competent staff to answer questions. It was an educational and inspirational experience. Great souvineirs, well made and unique. A wonderful day.

We loved the cute miniature donkeys, and also the goats and pigs. There is a small shop as well. It is a pleasant drive to Turtle Valley.

Such a lovely setting at the refuge and in all of the Turtle Valley. Take a drive up and plan to spend a little or a longer time. There are picnic tables and lots of grassy spots. Take you time and just commiserate with the donkeys both big and small. With a little luck they will bray for you and will not help but smile.Take your kids or someone else's as they will love it.

this was a lovely place to visit, the donkeys are well cared for and the cause is so worthy.....a tranquil setting that the donkeys so deserve..pack a lunch and take a break, the walk up to see the miniatures can be quite hot in the summer.

The donkeys are endearing as are the people who look after them. Fun for the whole family. Phone for driving directions and hours of operation. Dogs are welcome here as long as they don't bother the donkeys. Take a picnic - it's a nice place to spend an hour or two.

This is the perfect place to spend a day. Bring a picnic lunch and use one of the tables under the trees. There are so many fabulous rescued donkeys here and each one has his/her own story and personality. You will fall in love when you see those big soulful eyes. Shirley and Rob are the owners of this property and I'm always amazed at their dedication to these beautiful creatures. It's a picturesque spot nestled in the valley, honestly one of my most favourite places in all of the world.

If you are vacationing in the Chase/Sorrento/Shuswap area, you must pay this little place a visit. It's a peaceful and loving sanctuary for donkeys who have been rescued and given a better existence. The special needs area for those animals that have been particularly traumatized through life experiences was especially rewarding. The staff and volunteers are angels - they genuinely love their work and are gentle, compassionate souls! Such a worthwhile outing for all ages - humbling and important. The little gift shop is impressive too - lots of quality items for sale at reasonable prices and all for a great cause!Tip: check their website first for operating days and times as they aren't open every day of the week in order to allow the donkeys non visitor days

Daughter is one of many dedicated volunteers. Open house well advertised. Donkeys clean and friendly.

Even the word 'donkey', makes people laugh. Something about all those long ears, gentle temperament, and big brays. There are around 40 longears to love. You have to see the mammoth donkeys and the minis. And there's sheep and chickensThe refuge is located in a little picturesque valley. The donkeys, all rescued, are lovingly taken care of. All their various life histories are documented. A place for all ages.

I don't know how to rate a donkey refuge, other than to say: it's giving refuge to donkeys that need refuge, so I guess it's a 5/5! $6 per adult for a little tour and a walkabout; there are lots of donkeys of various sizes and types, plus a few pigs & goats, and a gift shop with t-shirts and donkey-themed christmas cards.Turtle Valley is a rural farming area with dirt roads that may not be able to sustain a lot of visitor traffic. I'd encourage people who don't live in the area to visit their website and support the Donkey Refuge from afar: http://turtlevalleydonkeyrefuge.webs.com.

We discovered this wonderful place on the Kamloops news. On our dogs 13th birthday we decided to give a donation to the donkey refuge as they rescue donkeys that are abused & hurt. They are building a new barn for the donkeys so we donated to the cause. A few weeks later we went out on a Sunday to meet the donkeys. They are only open on Saturdays & Sundays. It was a great drive. I had never been on the Squilax Turtle Valley Road before; as we always went 'right 'to Shuswap, never went 'left'. What a beautiful valley. Their place looks over Philips Lake . The donkeys are well taken care of. They seemed to have a magic about them. They all have unique names & personalities. We look forward to seeing them again. This is a place of rest for abused donkeys not a tourist trap or a petting zoo!! Visitors are welcome.
